JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Nursing will direct and manage the Hillside Manor Nursing Home which includes approximately 100 FTE of licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Provides direct accountability leadership to Hillside Manor providing management, clinical expertise and facilitating/coaching.
2. Prepares and meets facility and MMC-BD policies, procedures, productivity standards, performance evaluations, work schedules, recruitment, orientation, employee development and retention.
3. Creates and maintains a professional practice environment by meeting appropriate standards and individual competencies.
4. Plans and manages the efficient use of facility and organizational resources.
5. Communicates effectively and positively with other MMC-BD departments. Collaborates with other leaders and medical staff in monitoring and achieving quality services and customer satisfaction.
6. Accountable for departmental development, empowerment and service line growth. Monitors the internal and external environment and identifies potential opportunities, areas of growth and issues of concern.
7. Develops and maintains standard nursing practice, nursing policy and procedures. Uses knowledge to revise and improve care practice in order to provide a high quality of care.
8. Creates and maintains resident focused environment where quality is delivered. Coordinates nursing services with other resident services.
9. Ensures that the duties of nursing personnel are clearly defined and assigned staff members are consistent with the education, preparation, experience and licensing of each.
10. Maintains personal competency in clinical RN and supervisory role.
11. Knows and forwards information consistent with current external regulatory agencies (State, Federal, OSHA, CDC, Joint Commission, etc.). Ensures that HSM meets or exceeds state and federal regulations in state and federal codes and Joint Commission and coordinates compliance.
12. Assumes overall accountability for the delivery of care in the Hillside Manor.
13. Collaborates in development of departmental goal setting based on the strategic plan.
14. Advises and empowers others to provide opportunity for personal and professional growth.
15. Monitors areas of service and identifies areas of desired improvement within the department and the organizational continuum. Promotes quality improvement programs including enhancing and improving the publicly reported indicators.
16. Takes accountability for coordination of programs and projects as identified by the HSM Administrator.
17. Collaborates with other Directors and all employees in achieving quality services and high customer satisfaction.
18. Addresses and resolves resident, family and employee concerns timely.
19. Regular attendance is required in order to carry out the essential functions of the position.
20. Reviews and meets ongoing competency requirements of the role to maintain the skills, knowledge and abilities to perform, within scope, role specific functions.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required: Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Preferred/Optional: Masters of Science in Nursing.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: Two or more years’ of RN experience and one of more years’ demonstrated management and/or supervisory experience.
Preferred/Optional: Two or more years’ of long term care experience.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
Minimum Required: Current Wisconsin RN Licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
