Director of Olmsted Operations
Job Description *ONLY OPEN TO CURRENT FULL-TIME ANNUALLY PAID PARKS EMPLOYEES* * This vacancy is only open to 1) current permanent Parks employees serving in the Administrative Park & Recreation Manager civil service title or 2) on leave from the title or 3) permanent Parks employees in or on leave from a comparable title (e.g. Administrative Community Relations Specialist, Administrative Staff Analyst, or Administrative Manager) or 4) Parks employees who are reachable on the Administrative Park & Recreation Manager promotional civil service list, Exam no. 4505 or 5) Parks employees who are reachable on a comparable civil service list or qualify for a comparable title. Major Responsibilities - Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, with wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, oversee all maintenance and operations activities at the Olmsted Center. - Directly supervise facilities staff. - Manage all furniture and equipment moves in the building to promote maximum utilization of the facility. - Coordinate with Telecommunications to manage phone and communications issues. - Work with Citywide Operations to handle all vehicle issues related to the Capital Projects fleet, including Fast Fleet. - Oversee the issuance of parking permits, maintain the permits database and handle parking issues. - Maintain accurate records and receiving reports, as requested. - Administer additional special projects, as needed. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college plus four years of satisfactory, full-time experience in recreation leadership, gardening, grounds maintenance, building maintenance or construction, of which 18 months must have been in an administrative, consultative, managerial or executive capacity; or 2. High school graduation or its educational equivalent plus six years of experience as described in "1" above; or 3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must possess the 18 months of administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive experience as described in "1" above. License Requirement A Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York is required within six months of the date of appointment.
