Job Description:

USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Operations, Beach Volleyball to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals.  This role is responsible for providing operational and administrative support for the beach volleyball team. Additional requirements include coordinating travel arrangements, ordering and coordinating meals, managing team communications, overseeing team equipment needs, managing recruiting visits, compliance reporting, and reconciling expense reports.  Where appropriate, this position will also be expected to oversee and manage student managers and workers.

Reporting directly to the Head Coach, the Director of Operations will work in collaboration with the Athletics business office and other support staff. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail, strong time management skills, and strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding the unique culture and needs of college athletes is preferred.

This is an exempt position, and some work in the evenings and on weekends is expected.

Roles and responsibilities to include:

Manages student managers/workers.

Processes expenses reports.

Processes per diem for team travel.

Manages travel arrangements (transportation, airfare, hotel, etc.).

Orders meals and coordinates with nutrition.

Manages TeamWorks, team calendar, and team communication.

Oversees team equipment needs and Nike orders.

Assists with social media presence.

Manages recruiting visits and contacts.

Completes compliance reporting for practice logs and recruiting contacts.

Assists with running beach clinics.

Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience (5 years preferred). Combined experience/education as a substitute for minimum education.

Ability to travel 15%.

Valid driver’s license is required.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Teamworks, and ARMS.

Experience working in higher education and/or a sports-related field ideal.

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $69,000 - $75,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
