The Dir-Operations is responsible for overseeing areas with combined research and/or clinical functions OR oversees multiple areas with various broad functional groups or with a global focus. Directs and oversees all administrative and operational aspects. Develops and implements departmental and institution wide programs and initiatives. Oversees the budget planning process, strategic planning process, as well as compliance and quality improvement initiatives. May be required to play a vital role in international affairs including contracts and communications, as the department requires. Serves as a subject matter expert within area of expertise. Job Overview The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine is seeking a Director of Operations for St. Jude Global, an institutional strategic initiative. Reporting directly to and working collaboratively with the Vice President of Global Operations, the Director of Operations will have multiple workstreams including St. Jude Global governance, the St. Jude Global Alliance, and the St. Jude Global Regional Hubs. In the role, they will translate the goals set out in the strategic plan into actionable tactics and ensuring communication across the multiple teams and programs contributing to St. Jude Global. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the global operations space and possess an innovative approach to collaboration, management, and communication. Job Description The Director of Operations for St. Jude Global is responsible for: Advising and providing strategic decision-making support to the Vice President, Global Operations. Directing St. Jude Global operations, including governance and strategy, and managing the St. Jude Global Executive Committee. Directing and setting strategy for the St. Jude Global Alliance, including the operational personnel managing its processes, engagement, events, and tools. Leading the effort to open and operationalize Regional Hubs including managing internal mobilization workstreams, collaborating with institutional partners, and overseeing external vendor relationships. Directing and actively managing the development of operational policies and procedures for the department, St. Jude Global, the Alliance, and the Regional Hubs. Developing relevant program and initiative budgets and ensuring appropriate allocation of resources. Overseeing large and/or strategic contracts. Aligning St. Jude Global Operations and Alliance Operations to the strategic initiatives of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Collaborating with St Jude Global transversal and regional program teams to ensure alignment with strategic initiatives. Actively driving processes for team management in terms of goalsetting, performance, development, and engagement. Serving as a core member of the department operations leadership team. Driving risk assessment and process improvement initiatives that have significant operational impact. Coaching and developing individuals to ensure they have rich career experiences and rotational opportunities. Minimum Education and/or Training Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum Experience Minimum Requirement: 10+ significant years of experience in managing large teams, building systems and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Experience translating strategic goals into operational goals and overseeing execution. Proven experience leading administration and operations management, driving execution, managing stakeholders, budget planning and resource management. Prior experience in vendor contract negotiations and strategic vendor relationship management. Proven performance in earlier role/comparable role. Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Demonstrated leadership experience. Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to quickly synthesize new information from diverse sources. Adaptable problem solving and analytic skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to carry out broad assignments with minimal supervision. Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities. Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle sensitive matters in a confidential and professional manner. Ability to adapt work schedule, with prior notice, to virtually support events occurring in multiple time-zones. Cultural sensitivity is a must. Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
