JOB SUMMARY
In dyad leadership with the Medical Director for Community Health Oncology, the Director of Operations oversees the operations of the oncology units, including Clinic, Infusion, and Radiation Oncology at multiple sites in Manassas, Gainesville, and Culpeper. This leadership role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care while promoting growth, efficiency, and collaboration within the UVA Health system and the wider community. The Director of Operations reports to the Chief Operations & Growth Officer of UVA Community Health Medical Group, with a dotted reporting line to the Administrator of the Cancer Service Line.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
Operational Leadership: Oversees daily operations across UVACH Medical Group oncology locations, ensuring high-quality patient care, efficiency, and service excellence, and consistent practices that align with UVACH Medical Group and the Cancer Service Line expectations and protocols. Coordinates with the Oncology Service Line Directors of Operations for Clinics, Infusion, Radiation Oncology, and Supportive Care Services. Implements and refines standardized operational procedures across all sites. Ensure compliances with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. Strategic Planning: Collaborates with the Administrator of the Cancer Service Line and Chief Operations and Growth Office of UVA Community Health Medical Group to define and implement strategic initiatives. Monitors and analyzes operational metrics to identify improvement and growth opportunities. Collaborates with UVA Health Strategy Group to drive growth and expansion of oncology services in alignment with UVA Health's strategic plan. Financial Administration: Develops and manages budgets in collaboration with financial teams. Monitors and is accountable for financial performance, making necessary adjustments to ensure fiscal responsibility. Collaborates with procurement, supply chain teams and other key stakeholder groups to optimize resources. Team Leadership and Development: Monitors and drives clinic success and quality results by partnering with physicians, UVACH and market leaders and supporting departments. Recruits, mentors, and provides continuous professional development opportunities for staff. Fosters a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement. Ensures teams have the resources and training to perform their roles effectively. Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and maintains strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders – such as pharmacy, lab, radiology, and revenue cycle. Represents UVA Health Oncology and UVA Community Health in the wider community, promoting our services and brand. Addresses any concerns or feedback from patients, staff, and partners promptly and effectively. Quality and Patient Safety: Collaborates with the Director of Cellular Therapy and Cancer Quality to ensure that care meets or exceeds standards. Continuously assesses and improves the patient experience. Champions the integration of evidence-based practices into daily operations.The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of healthcare operations experience, preferably in oncology.

Knowledge of principles and practices of healthcare management sufficient to oversee and coordinate the operation of physician practices to provide effective patient care Knowledge of and experience with clinical and administrative shared leadership models Knowledge of and experience with establishing and optimizing provider practices, including financial forecasting, expense management, and workflow standardization. Knowledge of and experience using practice management computer systems and applications Knowledge of government and reimbursement regulations and requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, managed care and other third-party payer’s guidelines Knowledge of best practices and benchmarking performance standards, including but not limited to clinic staffing, provider scheduling, and workflow design, inventory management and purchasing processes, quality and patient satisfaction metrics General knowledge of accounting practices and procedures as well as effective budgeting and forecasting practicesSkills:
