Description
We are in search of a Director of Payroll to join our team in the Transport industry, located in Jacksonville, FL. The Director of Payroll will be tasked with overseeing all payroll functions across our organization, from processing of payroll to ensuring compliance with all relevant payroll laws and regulations. The role will also involve leading a team of payroll professionals and managers, and overseeing the integration of payroll systems across different business units in our organization.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the organization's payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll and employer tax laws and regulations.
• Resolve any discrepancies or errors in the payroll system.
• Communicate effectively with employees and managers on payroll-related matters.
• Lead and manage a team of payroll professionals, providing oversight and mentoring around best payroll practices.
• Participate in the performance management process including setting performance goals and evaluating performance.
• Develop and implement new written payroll policies and procedures and/or revise existing policies and procedures.
• Optimize the use of the organization's payroll systems to increase efficiencies and identify opportunities for automation.
• Oversee the payroll aspects of the annual 401(k) audit.
• Work closely with the finance teams across business units to facilitate the generation of payroll-related financial reporting.
• Oversee and facilitate weekly certified payroll reporting, union and/or prevailing wage calculations, and any other related reporting or notifications.
• Act as the system administrator for the Time and Attendance system and work in conjunction with payroll management team and staff responsible for adding, editing, and deleting all Time and Attendance elements.
• Ensure timely review and filing of tax filings.
• Maintain correct tax jurisdictions and resolve all tax errors or issues.
• Coordinate with Human Resources teams to ensure integrity of employee-related data.
• Work with other departments to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of payroll information.
Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the transport industry
• Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now is required
• Must have certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Experience with multi-state payroll is necessary
• Capability to manage payroll for over 500 employees
• Knowledge of payroll for unionized employees is essential
• Must have a deep understanding of payroll taxes
• Experience with UKG Pro software is required
