Job Description

In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking an experienced Director of People Services (HR) to work full-time on-site at our new distribution center campus in Garland, UT. In this role, you will be a founding member of the on-site leadership team and act as a true partner within the business. This position assists leaders in optimizing people, strategy, structure and process, while supporting our culture and core values. The Director will coach, consult and advise leaders in various aspects of People Services as well as existing Human Resources. You will act as a support partner with other HR functions including HR operations, talent acquisition, compensation, benefits and training. In addition, you will be the key driver supporting talent management in the areas of succession planning, performance management, employee relations, organizational development and strategic programs. You also will leverage your excellent people management skills to lead, coach and develop a small team of HR staff at the distribution center. 

A day on the job looks like this: 

Positively communicating and demonstrating the company’s core values by developing trust and respect among peers and associates, building strong teams and partnerships and driving results Providing guidance and input regarding HR strategies that support the vision, culture and business needs of the organization Leading and driving the execution of all HR programs in partnership with business leaders Building trusting consultative relationships with associates and leaders Supporting the business teams in establishing and executing an effective talent strategy and working in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team Leading a team of HR staff in the distribution center toward excellent outcomes and results Inspiring, coaching and influencing in-the-moment culture to effectively improve the quality and frequency of developmental feedback and improve the overall associate experience Administering and providing coaching to business leaders in managing engagement survey results and developing meaningful and effective action plans to improve engagement results Driving the performance management program by ensuring performance expectations and policy guidelines are being met and are conducted effectively and in a timely manner Handling various associate relations issues, such as investigating employees’ complaints, resolving employee conflicts and advising appropriate action to leadership Leveraging data analysis to proactively identify issues within the business and develop plans to address and minimize disruption Building and maintaining effective partnerships with staffing agencies for temp-to-hire and seasonal workforce   Effectively gauging KPIs to help create and optimize the overall staffing model Key strategic partner for leadership and a valuable resource for team members. Whether through onboarding, performance management, removing barriers, or giving leaders and team members the guidance that they need to be successful, you will be a knowledgeable and committed resource.  You’ll make a positive impact on how team members experience organizational change, and you’ll leverage data and strong partnership with leaders to help build the teams that will achieve their business goals.  Working closely with leadership, you will help recruit, educate, engage and retain talent of varying levels, while strategically thinking of long-term talent goals and priorities.  You will also be an integral player in staying up to date with industry and/or geographic trends to help drive key HR and business strategies.  You may also work on special projects that help drive continuous improvement throughout the distribution pyramid. 

Qualifications

Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for: 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field 5–7 years of experience managing large-scale, omnichannel warehouse/distribution HR teams, preferably within a greenfield distribution center setting; PHR or SPHR certification preferred Significant experience building a warehouse workforce (associates, supervisors and managers) and creating a cohesive and vibrant distribution center culture Fluent in Spanish and English Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, employee benefits, leave policies and practices) Ability to conduct investigations, train and develop staff and maintain documentation in an organized manner Must have strong communications and operating instincts, good strategic skills, sound business judgment and the ability to achieve goals by leveraging HR expertise Must be proficient in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook
