This role spearheads comprehensive development and communications strategy, driving revenue growth while elevating the Foundation's visibility and impact. Creates dynamic educational campaigns to engage new audiences, cultivate donor relationships, and advance mission awareness. Directs strategic initiatives that bridge fundraising, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement to build sustainable support for the Foundation's work.
Responsibilities:
Partner with Foundation leadership to architect comprehensive operational plans, establishing measurable goals for fundraising growth and educational outreach while defining long-term strategic direction. Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive donor acquisition strategy, working closely with the Executive Director, and development team to identify and cultivate new prospects. Oversee and guide team members, providing direction, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and team collaboration Architects and executes dynamic donor engagement programming, including strategic recognition events, curated experiences, and educational offerings that strengthen relationships within Whole Foods Market and broader community networks Serve as a key relationship manager for high-level donors, personally stewarding relationships and coordinating engagement opportunities. Enhance communication opportunities across audiences - beneficiaries (domestic and international grant partners) and donors. Develops and manages comprehensive budgets for communications, stakeholder engagement and awareness campaigns, while strategically sourcing and overseeing external partnerships, vendors, and consulting resources to ensure effective implementation. Evaluate, manage & evolve programmatic content related to Whole Foods Market Foundation’s mission and messaging. Collaborates closely with the Senior Team Member Engagement & Education Manager to increase awareness and engagement. Determine metrics and analyze results of education and awareness and make appropriate recommendations for future efforts Provide leadership for development team focused on diversifying revenue sources Manage the end-to-end execution of the fundraising strategy Support the team in their prospecting, cultivating, and soliciting win-win partnerships with WFM supplier partners, individuals, foundations and corporate partners to meet fundraising goals Monitoring and analyzing fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed Support all communications needs related to sponsors / donors Engage in Foundation wide learning to improve processes, collaboration, messaging and impact Speaks regularly on topics of Whole Foods Market Foundation, both internally at Whole Foods Market gatherings, with donors and in the community, i.e., Universities, events, and conferences to share program objectives, elements, key dates, stories, and results.Requirements:
Passion for Whole Foods Market & Whole Foods Market Foundation missions BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience in development, corporate philanthropy, OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience 2-4 years leadership experience Experience in and familiarity with current nonprofit fundraising landscape Strategic thinker with experience creating comprehensive communication plans A ‘think-big’ mentality, strategic thinker with experience developing, operationalizing, and evaluating comprehensive programs while taking initiative and independently identifying solution Eagerness to work in an evolving organization where every role includes a full range of responsibilities from hands on to strategic Excellent communication and problem-solving skills including ability to give clear direct feedback, set clear expectations and connect with people on a personal level Resourceful self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and has a penchant to open quick conversations if expectations are unclear Effective writing skills - both to articulate programs internally and to communicate via social media, online channels and other formats as needed Ability to keep projects on track financially, creatively and in accordance with project deadlines. Occasional travel up to 20%
