Director of Plumbing & Business Growth
Summary: The Director of Plumbing & Business Growth is the key leader for day-to-day operations of Logan Services' Plumbing Department. This manager routinely works directly with the plumbing manager, plumbing service and install technicians, logistics personnel, and other managers to ensure customer satisfaction while meeting departmental goals and objectives. The Director is responsible for monitoring department performance in terms of revenue as well as cost control. Director will also develop and monitor quality control metrics for the department. The Director is responsible for finding new avenues of growth within the plumbing industry, which includes whole home plumbing as well as Sewer & Drain. The Director of Plumbing should be a natural leader, looking to support their team through their effective communication as well as their daily actions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Responsible for establishing & developing a high performing culture where team members are appreciated & valued, take pride in their workmanship, and provide exemplary customer service that leads to profitability of the plumbing division through strategic leadership. + Identify growth avenues for the existing Plumbing division and help greenfield a Sewer & Drain division for the company. + Provide insight on marketing tactics that work within the plumbing industry to help generate new leads for the business. + Establishes timelines & goals for the department. This includes staffing targets, apprentice timeline management, revenue and cost budgets for each month. Helps verify daily reporting for the department + Processes Weekly Payroll for the Plumbing department + Supports in recruiting & interviewing candidates with the Plumbing Manager + In collaboration with Plumbing Manager, responsible for technicians' performance appraisals, reviews and for setting improvement goals per company requirements + Help oversee the plumbing apprenticeship program by coordinating with the Plumbing Manager & Apprentice Program Manager. + Helps identify training opportunities for the team and individuals through conversations with the plumbing manager, as well as data from plumbing reporting. + Conducts quarterly department surveys for feedback from the team to judge the current state of the department, then to create action items to improve employee engagement. + Collaborates cross department with plumbing coordination, logistics, and marketing to ensure the plumbing team is setup for success and to promote growth of the division. + Support in resolving customer escalations within the plumbing department via phone or on-site appearances. + Additional layer of technical phone support for the plumbing team on top of the Plumbing Manager + Field support as needed by demands of the business. + Ensures that all company/department policies are being followed by the department + Work with other departmental managers to meet company and departmental goals and objectives + Other tasks and responsibilities as required to maintain efficient department operations + Performs all other duties as assigned Competencies: + Know the Business - Take an active role in understanding how the business operates and continuously pursue new knowledge to inform business decisions and maintain functional expertise. Experience and Requirements: + Excellent customer service and sales skills + Exhibit an in-depth knowledge and understanding of Plumbing trades + Has the ability to read, interpret, utilize and train on manuals related to Plumbing systems + Technical aptitude with knowledge of local codes and an ability to use resources at hand to find solutions + Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced + Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and strong conflict management skills + Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments + Good computer skills: knowledge of and proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook and general software navigation + Possess a strong personal desire for improvement and the desire to motivate technicians to be better tomorrow than they are today + Have a clean, neat and professional appearance; a top performer who can instill pride of workmanship in himself and in others + Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and background + Ability and willingness to work non-standard schedule: nights, weekends and holidays as/if required To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at a high level.
