About the Job
This position leads the procurement team in developing and implementing procurement strategies that support our MLC mission of utilizing the essential mineral lime to support evolving needs of society.
+ Leads and mentor the procurement team providing guidance and support to achieve department goals.
+ Cultivates strategic supplier relationships to ensure long-term support of corporate objectives through the procurement of key goods and services. Critical areas include solid fuel, large mobile equipment, liquid fuels, mining explosives, contracted services, large machinery and equipment and industrial repair parts.
+ Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize cost savings and operational efficiencies. Collaborate with functional teams across the company to integrate their needs and considerations into the procurement decisions and processes. Develop and maintain a procurement contract management system for MLC which provide consistent storage, key date reminders and visibility of quantities/ service levels for all major sourcing categories.
+ Identify and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers based on quality, price and reliability. Negotiate contracts and agreements with vendors to secure favorable terms and conditions as well as considering potential suppliers based on their sustainability practices, environmental certifications and commitment to responsible sourcing
+ Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
+ Stay abreast of market trends, economic factors and regulatory changes that impact procurement.
+ Employees are expected to perform other responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
+ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or relevant field.
+ Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain or related functions required. Strong in leading teams and people management skills. Proven track record in negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships and leading teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills is a must.
+ Knowledge: Require strong working knowledge of procurement, contract negotiation, contract law, vendor management and relevant market trends.
+ Skills: Proficient with MS Office Suite. Procurement software experience is a plus.
+ Abilities: Demonstrate strong leadership skills, communication and building a strong team focused on servicing internal customers while maintaining supplier relationships, cost effectiveness and process improvements.
+ Business travel as needed, such as visits to MLC sites, suppliers to develop relationships, culture and business objectives.
