Director of Product Support & Flight Safety

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Product Support & Flight Safety at our Lynnwood, WA location. 

Job Summary:

The Director of Product Support & Flight Safety directs all field service and customer support activity to ensure Crane products are performing as specified for the application. Oversees, manages, and conducts technical investigations, root cause and corrective actions required to improve performance of any product not meeting in-service reliability requirements.  Maintains constructive working relationships with senior level airline customer and regulatory representatives.  Oversees, manages and conducts all flight safety related investigations.  Ensures all support projects are completed on-time and within budget.

Essential Functions:

Develop and implement a Product Support & Field Service Engineering team focused on customer satisfaction Develop and manage Product Support budget, and staffing Develop and implement Safety Management System (SMS) strategies that mitigate potential flight safety risks and hazards Respond to and resolve customer field service issues in a timely, proactive manner Ensure compliance to all Product Support Agreements and similar contracts Initiate, review and approve Service Bulletins, Service Letters and Component Maintenance Manuals Responsible for initiation, calculation of estimate, and communication of warranty reserves Develop and maintain Product Support team performance metrics; train, motivate and develop staff in conjunction with Intellectual Capital and Crane Business System standards of the organization, with a core focus on meeting company, employee, and customer needs Ensure Product Support teams participation in new Product Development Process (PDP) and Entry Into Service (EIS), to deliver expected results Support Engineering and Business Development Managers on proposal activities with compliance matrix, detailed product support plans and in-service safety & reliability information where necessary Coordinate with R&O Manager to determine and implement service deliverables per Product Support Agreement, ensuring Contractual Compliance. Drive accountability and ownership to deliver results Active participant in modification and retrofit programs as and when necessary Establish, develop and maintain good customer relationships, understand and communicate their needs and expectations throughout Crane Aerospace Personally interact with customers to ensure Product Support & Field Service Engineering activities resolve customer issues and deliver on Crane A&E promises to the customer Coordinate Field Service Engineering Activities and responsibilities to maximize Customer Satisfaction Maintain knowledge of FAR, SFAR’s and for maintaining knowledge of outside agencies FAA, NTSB, ICAO, JAA, EASA, and their services Develop diagnostics that ensure the product support delivery model is effective and efficient. Measure and communicate customer satisfaction levels on a regular basis Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of Ten (10) years of operational experience within aerospace/aviation industry. Knowledge: Detailed knowledge with outside agencies including FAA, NTSB, ICAO, JAA, EASA, and their services. Specific Proficiencies: ICAO Annex 13, ICAO 62-00, ICAO Doc. 9859, FAA 49 CFR Part 831, CFR-14_A Part 5, DCP PR81-506-01, WRDC-TR-90-4075 Failure Analysis Techniques for the evaluation of Electronics & Electrical Components in Aircraft Accident  Investigations. Detailed knowledge of Boeing CRC, SRP/ MSRP Processes Skills: Must have the capability to lead engineering team based organizations and motivate subordinates through innovative leadership skills. Analytical skills and disciplines to support Planning and overall Product Support Tasks Experience with reading/interpreting/applying terms related to various Product Support agreements. Proficiency in relationship management and conflict resolution. Abilities: May require significant travel to domestic and international customers and conferences. Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize; and the ability to work in a team environment. Education/Certification: BS degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Material Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent education.      NTSB Academy Graduate SCSI Certificate FAA A&P Licenses of FAA Repairman Certificate

Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 Working Conditions:

Standard office environment (30%). Onsite at Aircraft /Component Maintenance sites (70%) Work requires substantial visual concentration Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes Standing: 45% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task Sitting: 10% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task Lifting (in pounds): up to 40 pounds Pushing (in pounds): up to 40 pounds Mental/Visual: use of computer, test equipment, hand-tools, dataloggers Workspace (line, cube, etc): cubicle/desk, on-wing, flight line, component shops

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $165,568.00 to 205,233.60. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
