Overview:
Our client is currently hiring a Director of Production with marine/shipyard experience to join their team. This will be a shipyard/ship repair based role, and not a commercial manufacturing position. Manages the operations of all production trades to include Facilities and Gas Free. Responsible for ensuring that all projects are manned with competent, properly trained and certified personnel, and the work efforts are coordinated and executed in a cost-effective manner, safely, and on time. Provides leadership and guidance to Shop Superintendents and oversees the maintenance and improvement of all shop equipment and development of shop procedures.
Description:
+ Primary oversight of all production departments to include Facilities and Gas Free.
+ Responsible for making strategic and tactical decisions related to certain aspects of company's production business to include operation non-Program work including fixed-price availabilities and non-MSMO work packages.
+ Responsible for ensuring that all projects are manned with competent, properly trained and certified personnel, and that work efforts are prioritized, coordinated and efforts integrated between departments and executed safely, in a cost-effective manner and on time.
+ Ensures performance is within the guidelines of the contracts, delivery orders are received and that all contractual requirements are within the scope of work for the specific market and are met for U.S. Navy, Government, private shipyard, and commercial projects.
+ Holds daily production meetings with all trades and Project Managers.
+ Communicates with all department heads to ensure that any manning, scheduling, tooling, and material issues are identified and resolved.
+ Attends all in house SRA Production Meetings.
+ Walks through all in plant vessels daily verifying all work in progress and identifying and resolving any issues as they arise.
+ Provides leadership and guidance to Shop Superintendents and oversees the maintenance and improvement of all shop equipment and development of shop procedures.
+ Reviews and proofreads specs.
Qualifications:
+ AS or BS Degree preferred.
+ 10+ years of relevant management experience within ship repair or ship construction.
+ Estimating experience.
+ Basic knowledge of all skilled trades, and ability to manage effectively.
+ Ability to communicate effectively as a leader.
