Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, Global Battle Management and Readiness Division is seeking an Operating Unit Director (Director Programs 1) to lead and manage the newly formed Mission Data Management (MDM) Operating Unit (OU). A collection of programs and product lines including integrated and collaborative mission planning, security solutions, intel and more, MDM OU seeks to provide digitally differentiated mission solutions across broad customer base.
The successful candidate will be an experienced program professional with competencies and capabilities in managing cost, schedule and technical performance as well as growing a portfolio of complex development programs. This role reports to the Business Unit Vice President and may be located in McLean VA; Beavercreek, OH; Hollywood, MD; or Orlando, FL.
Duties include:
Provide direct leadership to program managers, proactively strengthening the operating unit through program management standards, business systems and tools. Responsible for oversight of program financial and schedule commitments, quality and customer satisfaction.
Accountable for all Business Program & Financial Commitments (Awards, Sales, Profit and Cash).
Support new business activities targeting increasing scope and content on existing programs, as well as identifying new opportunities with existing and new customers.
Maintain current and actionable market-customer-pursuit intelligence that supports the business unit objectives. Provide direct leadership to Proposal/Capture mangers for competitive offerings.
Manage operating unit priorities aligned with the strategy and prioritizing resource needs.
Partner with functional leadership to deploy qualified resources and improve processes, tools and training to meet customer demands. Evaluate and implement program best practices.
Provides day-to-day people leadership of a diverse team and creates an environment that accelerates development of talent and drives continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM degree required with minimum of 10 years of experience in Program Management, Engineering Management, Operations Management or similar. Strong Program management discipline required.
Proven track record of developing growth strategy including developing customer relationships, pursuit capture, and shaping requirements.
Requires the ability to achieve results, exceptional leadership skills, effective and timely decision making, negotiation skills, business acumen and problem-solving skills.
Requires knowledge and experience with implementation and execution of process standards and training focused on programs, business development, and risk management identification and mitigation.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with senior customers and executives.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance at the TS/SCI and SAP levels.
Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications
Agile development, delivery, and sustainment management experience
Systems and Software Portfolio Management, various contract types
Active TS clearance or higher.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
Salary Range: $187,700.00 - $325,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
