Ultra Maritime’s Airborne Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) line of business (LOB) provides industry-leading A-size US Sonobuoys and ASW Receivers to the US Navy and allied partners globally. The LOB operates primarily in its Columbia City, IN and Victor, NY locations.

UM is seeking a Director of Programs and Site Leader for its ASW Receivers business. The major role of the Program Director is business management of the sites customer/product portfolio and growing the product line strategy and overall business. This role reports to the VP/GM of UM Airborne ASW.

ASW Receivers customers include the US Navy (specifically NAVAIR & NAVSUP), Boeing, LM, and other Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) countries/entities. Products covered would include the VIPR, SWaP 2.0, and the ½ ATR radios and associated power amplifiers.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

Serve as the key customer interface for strategic business growth and tactical business execution with Profit and Loss responsibility for ~$10-20M in production and paid engineering sales, with an expectation to maximize those sales according to plan and to meet of increase the book rate profitability wherever possible 

Drive capture plans, engagements, and proposal processes in coordination with the Business Development team 

Regular interaction with the LOB’s and local site’s functional leadership (Engineering, Contracts, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, etc.) to manage tactical business execution 

Responsible for successful programs execution and reporting for both production and development including IRAD and paid development efforts.   

Ensures all Project(s) / Program(s) in portfolio perform to cost, schedule and technical requirements as well as compliance with government regulations and company policy. Drives active risk management with mitigations to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction. Drive and report program metrics, taking proactive action when metrics do not meet expectations or are trending in negative direction.  

Local site leadership/ support of the full Victor NY organization with direct-line management responsibility for both Receivers’ Program Management and local Operations – to meet internal and external stakeholders’ expectations for contract development, production programs, and IRAD efforts. 

Ensure all functional resources across the LOB, as required, are giving appropriate priority to Receivers programs to ensure solid execution to ensure production and paid development contract commitments are met 

Clear, concise communication of program and capture status to LOB stakeholders (internal and external)  

Responsible for Victor Site Bid and Proposal management, bids generation and all response to open solicitations 

Ensure that responses are within LOB capabilities and meet standards for strong program execution including financial and technical risk management 

Responsible for performance and development of any direct reporting Victor site members, including performing regular performance review and administrative tasks.  

Escalates business execution issues to LOB functional leadership for adjustments to human resources, processes, commodities and tools.  

Fosters positive morale at the site, helping to facilitate employee engagement initiatives 

Establishes and maintains positive relationships with Colleagues, Customers and Sponsors to ensure alignment and support.  

 

Required Skills: 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 15+ years of related experience in program management, engineering, business development, and/or operations. 

Previous DoD experience either in a senior engineering or program management role 

Ability to obtain a US Government Security Clearance. (Note: US Security Clearances are only granted to US Citizens) 

 

Desired Skills: 

Experience with Naval applications, particularly communication radios is preferred. 

DoD Customer interface and contract experience is also preferred. 

Familiarity with NAVAIR programs and knowledge Air ASW Systems architecture understanding, or demonstrated ability / technical acumen to rapidly learn 

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation for this role is between $132,500.00 - 179,500.00 annually. Please note, this is the expected minimum compensation however, Ultra Maritime considers many factors in determining compensation prior to offer, such as: responsibilities and scope of role, candidate's work experience and education related to position, applicable certifications or trainings, business and market conditions.
