This Opportunity: The Director of Project Controls and Cost Management will lead, manage and oversee the accounting and fiscal activities of the organization’s Data Center Solutions (DCS) business unit. This position is responsible for accurate and timely processing and reporting of all cost, financial and schedule related matters within the DCS organization. The role will lead and manage a team of project Cost Controllers, Project Schedulers and other shared resources assigned to support the business unit such as Procurement and Accounts Payable and Receivable Specialists. The duties of this position involve designing and implementing standardized processes and identifying opportunities to continuously improve processes. The successful candidate will possess a high degree of progressive experience in construction industry accounting and project controls principles and best practices. What You Will Do: Safety is our Priority. Follow Safe Work Practices that conform with the Company’s Safety Program and client worksite policies ensuring that every person on the team Stays Accident Free Every day. Responsible for standard construction controls and cost management duties focusing on monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to senior leadership that conforms with internal financial performance metrics and industry best practices. Work with project management and leadership in preparing and reviewing monthly project cost and billing forecasts. Complete oversight of accounting, reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, revenue and earnings forecasting and risk management. Effective management of month-end closing activities. Prepares and reviews GL entries and reconciliations. Accountable for maintaining monthly WIP schedule leveraging percentage of completion accounting methodology and the Business Unit’s PL statement. Actively assists in the development and management of the DCS annual budget. Implement, anchor and continuously improve strong project controls and cost management processes. Utilizing your skills and experience, you will have complete ownership of the preconstruction planning process related to cost and schedule that effectively positions projects for success and supports positive cashflow. Ensure projects’ fiscal activities are effectively and efficiently managed such as draw periods for project billings, accurate job costing, timely processing of AR and AP, collection and processing of lien waivers and releases. Responsible for contract administration and compliance as it relates to DCS cost management and project controls. Coordinate and partner with Black Box Training and Development to support cost budgeting needs and the development of integrated training programs for project planning and controls. Your Needs for Success: To be successful in this position, qualified candidates must possess exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team building qualities. In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the Earned Value Management System and construction industry accounting best practices. Highly practiced in risk identification, planning and management. Understanding of cost accounts and coding structures, subcontract management, open commitment management, and conducting procurements. Demonstrated experience in project planning, execution, closeout, and delivery. Experience with budget and overhead management, developing budgets, estimates to complete and at completion, and burn rate analysis. Highly skilled at planning, tracking, and reporting metrics for projects of varying complexity, size and levels of risk. Ability to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on capacity. Experience with Time Impact Analysis and Value Engineering. Demonstrated project controls experience for projects using various delivery and contracting methods such as fixed priced / lump sum, GMP, T&M, Unit Rate, etc. Detail orientated with ability to collect key data in order identify financial trends and anomalies. Exceptionally proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications with advanced experience in the use of Microsoft Excel to support the development of tools and reports. Experience in the use and operation of Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project. Advanced experience in SAP and/or other similar ERP platforms and applications are required. Ability to perform under minimal direct guidance and achieve objectives with a significant degree of independence. Solid communication skills with ability to interface and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels. What You Bring to the Table: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration is required. 10+ years of proven and demonstrated experience in cost and schedule controls. Preferred professional certifications: Construction Financial Management Association Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) Project Management Institute Scheduling Professional (PMI-SP) Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering Planning and Scheduling Professional (PSP) Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering Certified Cost Professional (CCP) Project Management Institute Program Management Professional (PgMP) Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP) Project Management Institute Risk Management Professional (RMP) Supervisory Responsibility: This position will have direct reports.
