Bard Prison InitiativeDirector of Public Health ProgramsApply Here:https://apply.interfolio.com/153816 The Director for Public Health Programs is responsible for developing and supporting future public health leaders through an innovative and disruptive public health specialization and fellowship in response to enhancing the inclusion of formerly incarcerated individuals in the field of public health. This position does not include an opportunity to conduct research within the prisons or to approach students as research subjects. Job Duties: Curricular Specialization + Oversee day-to-day operations of Public Health Curricular Specialization + Develop overall educational goals, curriculum and content that is aligned with the needs of public health careers + Teach courses in NYS correctional facilities + Recruit and retain faculty for PH courses BPI Public Health Fellowship + Oversee day-to-day operations of PH fellowship + Lead fellow recruitment and selection + Ensure the fellowship provides an effective educational experience that leads to measurable achievement of outcomes for fellows by using data to inform actions and improvements on the cohort and individual level + Facilitate participation of current and past fellows in educational, career, and scholarly activities + Foster consistent engagement and interaction with current and prospective fellows, prospective and current faculty, and guest speakers + Develop and oversee operations of 10-month long intensive fellowship program for formerly incarcerated public health professionals + Craft and deliver content for all PH-related communications internal to BPI and public facing representation of PH programs, students, and alumni--including current and past Fellows Career Advising/Professional Development + Collaborate with Reentry and Alumni Affairs and Continuing Education staff on systematic procedures to ensure alumni opportunities for public health related jobs/professional training and degree completion/advancement + Mentoring and cultivation of BPI alumni pursuing and employed for jobs in PH + Plan, organize, and facilitate past/current/prospective fellow workshops, cohort-building convenings, and other capacity-building opportunities. This includes preparing meeting agendas, drafting and editing concept notes and event summary notes, and coordinating and facilitating correspondence with participants and all relevant stakeholders during workshops and meetings Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications: Required + Master’s Degree or higher + Implement a strategic plan to establish, strengthen, and maintain relationships between the institution and employers + Program and project management experience in a team-based structure + Strong communication, presentation, writing, and interpersonal skills + Excellent technical skills including knowledge of and experience working with web-based platforms, communication and collaboration tools (e.g., GSuite and LinkedIn) + Ability to understand and use data in assessing and communicating program outcomes + Weekly travel to BPI sites, as assigned, and to NYC office + Occasional travel is expected outside of NYS for conferences and other professional activities with prior notification to the supervisor Preferred + College teaching experience + Experience working with adult learners and college graduates + Working knowledge of academic advising, student/alumni development theories and practices + Some experience or degree equivalent in the public health field + General knowledge of the New York public health careers in the private and public sector + Comfortable working independently and in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple deadlines, multiple projects, and competing + Comfortable facilitating, leading, or teaching a seminar-style class + Experience with workshop and program facilitation and design, including blended learning, for advanced career development and industry-specific skills + Exceptional writing and communication skills, with ability to represent BPI’s mission to supporters and deep understanding of BPI’s core values To Apply Please submit a Interfolio application (https://apply.interfolio.com/153816) with a resume, the contact information of three professional references, and written responses to the following questions: + What are the top two reasons you are interested in exploring whether this position is the right fit for you?
