Job Description

The Director of Quality Assurance and EHS is responsible for product quality, development, maintenance, and monitoring of the Quality System. As a member of the management team, you will establish organizational policies and procedures, and coordinate efforts to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products. You will lead a team to maintain quality standards for company products, adhering to both internal and external standards.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop initial and subsequent modifications of the product assurance program to delineate areas of responsibility, personnel requirements, and operational procedures.Develop, maintain, and update the Quality Assurance Procedures Manual.Maintain a library of written materials and reports to assist the QA department in meeting organizational quality objectives.Implement and follow through with programs to improve quality initiatives in accordance with AS9100 standards.Maintain and periodically update written policies and procedures governing QA functions.Collaborate with product and program managers on new program implementations, including operational readiness, change preparation, execution, and post-change QA validation.Ensure a QA organization structure within each facility that meets production site needs, identifying issues and guiding QA process resolutions.Conduct monthly QA meetings with department managers to review program policies, coordinate inter-department functions, and establish responsibilities and procedures.Conduct monthly QA meetings with the team to review quality procedures, reports, goals, and objectives.Engage with material and component vendors to gather information on supply quality, vendor capacity, and standards; conduct supplier audits.Follow established policies and procedures in support of the company’s Quality and AS9100 standards.Recruit and maintain a strong operational team capable of addressing quality exceptions.Develop, implement, manage, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, practices, and training.Oversee the disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.Coordinate the activities of the Site Safety Committee, including inspections and monitoring programs; serve as a technical resource expert and \"EHS Champion\".Promote effective communication with employees to enhance awareness of environmental and safety issues.Direct and conduct investigations of all EH&S incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.Stay current on environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, and advise leadership on their impact.Develop, conduct, and monitor all required safety training to ensure regulatory compliance.Complete all required local, state, and federal environmental and safety reports, surveys, and permit modifications.Maintain effective relations with government agencies and communities.Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the department.Recognize your role in the company’s Quality Objective, following established policies and procedures in support of Quality and AS9100 standards.Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Essential SkillsExperience working in a manufacturing ISO9001 environment.Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.Experience with customer relations, returns, audits, and customer score cards.Experience with quality process improvement, engineering, quality engineering, quality management, quality assurance standards, and audits.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with EH&S, validation, and Microsoft Office.Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001 standards.Work Environment

This role is onsite in Torrington, CT. You will have 5 direct reports, including 2 Quality Managers in Mexico, 1 in Poland, 1 in England, and 1 in Torrington. The total team includes around 100 members, such as quality engineers, quality assurance, quality techs, and quality inspectors. Some travel, primarily to Mexico, is required. The work will mostly involve desk work, with minimal troubleshooting on the manufacturing floor.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $180000.00
