SUMMARY
Will organize and direct all racquet activities, events, socials, exhibitions, professional tennis (A USTA 25K USTA Pro Circuit Event) and pickleball tournaments, league teams, clinics, camps, and private lessons, as well as successfully lead and manage/mentor the team members of the racquet sports department.
Playing Experience
College tennis playing experience preferred NTRP/USTA 5.0 level or above Pickleball DUPR 4.0-4.5 level or aboveBackground Desired:
Director of Tennis/Racquets for 5+ years at a Top 50 Platinum Club or Top 50 Ranking by Tennis Resorts Online. Resort experience is desired Flexibility to teach all ages and levels Junior development experience with future college players RSPA/PTR and Pickleball certification required Experience as USTA tournament director desired Proven track record of successful member satisfaction Successfully managed a P&L. The Director shall devote full time effort, and energies to the performance of duties as Director of Racquets (DOR). The Director shall always conduct oneself in all matters in accordance with standards accepted for Racquet Sports Professionals as established by the Racquet Sports Professional Association (RSPA), Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The Director shall also conduct oneself in accordance with the rules, regulations and bylaws of Sea Colony and shall abide by the Mission Statement of the Resort. The Director of Racquets position is comprehensive and must ensure the successful achievement of the mission and objectives of Sea Colony. Responsible for overall operation of the department, including the Tennis, Pickleball, pro shop, and staff. The DOR is a highly visible position requiring strong presence, leadership and communication skills with Homeowners, members and staff. The DOR is expected to be the leader of the program by passionately promoting the games of Tennis and Pickleball. These traits must resonate through one’s team. Responsible for the annual budget process, monthly financial performance, and weekly payroll management. Manage all Racquet Sports day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards. Work with the Racquet Sports Committee to determine the operational and capital budget for the department. Consistent communication with the Director of Athletics, the General Manager and other departments within Sea Colony. Work with the Director of Marketing to create programming content, brochures, and media to increase visibility of new and current events. Attend all Sea Colony Staff, Racquets Committee, and sub-committee meetings. Responsible for drafting the Racquets Committee agendas in coordination with the respective Committee Chair. Create new social and competitive programs in Tennis and Pickleball to increase homeowner participation and satisfaction in the Racquets Department. Create a safe, fun, and engaging racquets experience for adults and children. Provide private, group and camp instruction in Tennis and Pickleball. Lead the Racquet Sports Team by setting a good example in both teaching and top-notch customer service. Responsible for the management of the Racquet Sports revenue streams including memberships, guest fees, racquet sports programming, and events. Under the direction of the Racquets Committee, the DOR administers the policies, procedures and programs of Sea Colony. In cooperation with the Racquets Committee, the Director shall oversee all tennis and pickleball tournaments, socials and events, and shall initiate and promote racquet activities for members and guests. Work with the Retail Manager to provide the pro shop with current tennis and pickleball apparel and gear.Other Specific Duties of the Director of Racquets Include:
Have a working knowledge of Clay Court Maintenance. Conduct regular staff meetings within the Racquet Sports Department to ensure effective communications. Work with the Head of Facilities to ensure that the Racquet Facilities are in pristine condition. Attend and provides guidance at Racquet Sports Committee meetings and other committee and staff meetings as required to carry out his/her responsibilities. With the support of management and Racquet Sports Committee, enforce the rules and regulations governing the use of the facility, equipment and other property. Maintain a cooperative and close relationship with staff members of all departments. On court teaching of approximately 500 hours annually.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
On a full-time, annual basis, supervision of the pro shop manager, shop staff, head racquets professionals, assistant professionals, teaching staff, and seasonal staff (in total supervising approximately 20+ staff members). Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the racquet sports team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Excel and Word are desired.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
RSPA or PTR certification at the highest-level excluding Master Professional for tennis and pickleball. Strives to be enrolled – or have completed - the University of Florida, USTA, PTR and RSPA “Director of Racquets Sports” certification program.
