Director of Racquets

Job Summary:

As the Director of Racquets, you are responsible for the overall operation of the racquets facility that includes Tennis and Pickleball operations. Working within the framework of the club and Cliff Drysdale Management, the Director will run an operation that aligns with the goals and vision of the club and services its members and their guests as well as club employees. This includes the maintenance and improvement of the club’s services and the security and protection of the club’s assets.

$67,640 - $68,640 per year + teaching commission. 

Job Expectations and Essential Duties:

Plays an active role in growing the membership for the club and providing 1st class programming, play and special events in order to maintain the members. Support Club membership sales effort to deliver budgeted sales numbers to include active participate in prospect experience and soliciting leads Create and execute marketing plans that drive player development and programming that meet or exceed department budget projections More than 50% of your work schedule will be of an administrative and supervisory nature. A strong administrative skillset is required within operations and racquet sports management. Teach no more than 20 hours per week with appropriate and focused attention given to both sides of the racquets program in tennis and pickleball. Engage with the racquets community. Additionally, participate with the community that are not involved in programming. Create a regular schedule of hours that you are on-site. When not on-site be available on call to deal with emergencies or appoint someone else at your club or corporate to be the point person. Enforces all club and corporate policies and procedures including court scheduling guidelines. Supervises all court play and proper charging of fees. Initiates, directs and promotes tennis, and pickleball clinics, special events and programs to attract and maintain members’ tennis and pickleball interests. Provides beginning through advance instruction (private and group) for all levels and ages of players. Implements and develops lesson programs for adults in all sports. Ensures proper inspection of the courts/facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertains that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order. Reports any maintenance problems to the appropriate person. Schedules and monitors court usage including special events, clinics, lessons, and competitive and social play. Form competition teams, elect captains, and support them in their roles.  Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manages staff members that may include but is not limited to: Instructors. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new staff member. Implements company training programs. Responsible for knowing the facility POS system. Ensures revenue is properly recorded into POS system and reconciled daily to schedule. Implements inventory control system for supplies and racquet retail items. Strong knowledge of sports merchandise in order to properly give information to consumers. Develops budgets within the goals set by Management. Provides monthly reports as required by Corporate Operations. Writes and edits all racquet sport-related news for the facility newsletters and website. Develops a detailed annual calendar of tennis and pickleball activities and coordinates with Corporate Marketing for promotion campaigns when applicable. Maintains a close working relationship with the Facility General Manager and non-court facility staff. Attends facility management meetings and reports to the General Manager. Run monthly to quarterly Court Sports Committee meetings. Address tennis disputes alongside the Court Sports Committee. Regular and reliable attendance. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.

Education/Experience:

At least a high school education or GED Experience leading a cohesive team A strong and experienced teaching background in both Tennis and Pickleball for players from social beginner level up to advanced and competitive levels CPR, First Aid Certification preferred  

Physical Demands:

Frequently stands, walks, uses hands; talks and hears, reaches with hands and arms, climbs, balances; stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Occasionally sits. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise:

Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:

Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the staff may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the staff may use are in English). Minimum requirement level of a 4.5 om both pickleball and tennis ratings.

Reports to: Club General Manager for all club operations and job functions. In addition to Senior Director for access to all support functions
