Director of Regulatory Compliance -

This position will work remote and must be located in IL, WI, MI, or TX, reporting to the Senior Director of Compliance. This person must have the ability to function autonomously while also supervising staff located in other areas of the country. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead a team of compliance managers located throughout the region, including hiring, training and performance management Monitor and assist as need with the review of new applicant, transfer and initial qualifying files Monitor and assist as need with the review of recertification files Escalate potential compliance issues and audit recommendations to the Senior Director of Compliance Review, track and submit HUD and LIHTC audit responses that are sent to regulatory agencies, investors and ownership with the assistance of compliance staff Ensure timely submission of audit corrections Stay informed about changes and pending changes in affordable housing regulations at the state and local levels within the region, and recommend necessary policy adjustments and training content Assist in the drafting, implementation and roll-out of national compliance policy Train and communicate compliance policy, procedures, & regulatory updates to staff and site teams Monitor and report on the ongoing compliance activities at resyndications, lotteries and other lease-ups; assisting site staff as necessary Coordinate the engagement of third-party file reviewers as needed Audit proper maintenance of tenant files and computer records to ensure accuracy according to HUD and LIHTC regulations Assist and review all 8823’s corrections and correspondence with oversight agencies Scheduling and perform on-site audits with compliance managers and report findings to the Senior Director of Compliance in coordination with their staff Attend third-party audits and internal audits as needed Assist with annual reporting requirements Other tasks as assigned #AFFCentralMDW COMPENSATION RANGE: $120K - $150K per year Plus annual performance bonus Compensation for this position is dependent on a variety of factors, including individual qualifications and geographical location. The range provided is intended to offer a general guideline and may vary based on these factors. Final compensation offers will be determined based on a comprehensive assessment of the candidate's background and the specific requirements of the role. Qualifications WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 5+ years of affordable housing compliance supervisory experience Deep Knowledge of HUD Section 8 and LIHTC programs and certification processing with local expertise COS required, HCCP preferred Demonstrated ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment Exceptional communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships across internal stakeholders, external partners, and industry professionals Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Experience with lease-ups and resyndications Strong data management skills with significant attention to detail Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office required; advanced Excel skills Working knowledge of RealPage OneSite desired Located in IL, WI, MI or TX with ability to travel 25-40% A BIT ABOUT US Related Affordable is driven by the belief that everyone deserves a quality home and works hard to deliver that for communities across the country.
