Director of Residential Services for Special Populations

Position Overview:

The Director of Residential Services for Special Populations is responsible for the oversight and management of the special population cottages, included but not limited to the Staff Secure and Therapeutic Group Home cottages. The Director of Residential Services for Special Populations oversees the cottage milieu, including the supervision of the Senior Residential Supervisors, the coordination of residential services and the direct therapeutic interventions: Grievances, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention/TCI Life Space Interview/LSI-Restraint, and Integrated Treatment Model/ITM. The Director of Residential Services for Special Populations ensures the Senior Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors and Youth Specialists appropriately supervise the youth. The Director of Residential Services for Special Populations collaborates with the Vice President, Program Director, Director of Residential Services for Shelter, Director of Case Management Services, Lead Case Managers, Lead Clinicians, Clinicians, Case Managers, Quality Improvement Specialist, PSA Compliance Manager, Medical Team, Special Children Services Team, ITM Implementation Manager, and the Health, Safety and Quality Improvement Assistant.

Position Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or social service fields or a high school diploma with 15 years of residential management experience.   Should have a minimum of five years supervisory experience with the agency’s US Program or similar experience at another residential treatment center or equivalent childcare setting.   ORR specific training and experience is strongly preferred. Attainment of at least a “Very Good” performance evaluation is required.  Ability to manage and promote a culturally responsive therapeutic environment, taking into account the varying clinical needs of each resident. Familiarity with running meetings, creating action plans, and following through on directives/assignments. Must possess exceptional time management and attention to detail skills. Possess strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead and manage a team, through guidance and corrective action. Ability to read, write and converse in English and Spanish required.
