Director of Sales

We're hiring a Full-time Director of Sales at The Monster Golf Club in Monticello, NY! Located just 90 Miles West of NYC, The Monster is the regions newest premier golf destination. The golf course just completed a $40-Million-dollar renovation and now boasts the best 18-holes west of the Hudson.

Ideal candidates have a genuine passion for event sales with a proven track record in customer service and hospitality. As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for maximizing group business revenues at The Monster through the promotion of the club’s facilities and offerings for golf outings, banquets, business meetings, social events, as well as stay and play packages at the resort. The Director of Sales will also be responsible for driving membership revenues once a membership program has been finalized.

SALARY: $60,000-$70,000 based on experience plus commissions

Responsibilities

Achieve sales/profit goals of the Club’s golf/events operation Help develop group sales budgets and marketing plans while working in tandem with Resorts World Catskills Assist in developing and implementing programs and activities that increase and retain events in the Club, including, but not limited to, telephone sales campaigns, direct marketing campaigns, attending networking events, attending travel shows, and the like Utilize the Troon Pace report daily to build and maintain an events prospect database, track all communications and activities with those prospects, and record all sales made Respond to prospect inquiries, conduct tours and meetings for prospective events, and sell events Oversee the development/preparation of contracts for all events Helps prospects (including Members) plan special events including menus, merchandise, entertainment, theme, decorations and other aspects Recommend refinements for golf events; recommend the purchase of equipment and supplies Work with the Club Manager and Resorts World Catskills F&B team to determine selling prices and menus for catered events Schedule all banquet event functions, prices and prepares event proposals, collects signed contracts and deposits Transmit the necessary information about all events to the appropriate support staff. Including Head Professional, Maintenance, Resort F & B team, as well as any additional hotel staff. Ensure smooth execution of events by inspecting finished arrangements and collaborating with appropriate department heads Plan and coordinate details of catered events to include determining specifications and quantities of goods to order, determining manpower levels, recommending personnel assignments, scheduling space and facilities, and communicating menu information to production staff (Head Golf Professional; guest service supervisor) Ensure that arrangements are made to set up rooms, provide service and clean areas after events Regularly evaluate services and determine means by which to upgrade quality of golf events Attend important events to foster relationships that are important to generate event referrals and other club business opportunities Participates in outside activities that are judged appropriate by the Club Manager and/or Troon regional team to enhance the presence of the property in the local community Work with the Club Manager and Troon Golf’s regional team in tandem with RWC staff to create sales materials/collaterals During the off-season; work shifts in the golf shop as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Education and Experience Requirements

Rigorous sales experience (3-5 years minimum) in sales, preferably in a club setting along with a proven track record of customer service and hospitality sales. Superior skills in prospecting, communication, follow-up and closing Present a professional appearance with a pleasant and mature demeanor Excellent written and oral communication skills Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented Must have excellent interpersonal/relationship skills Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint A four-year college degree preferred, but not required

Working Conditions

Use of sight, reading, wrist movement to operate a computer, phone, or other documents Physical activity including long periods of standing, bending, and lifting an average of 35 lbs. Work extended in-person hours during golf season Work weekends and holidays Travel locally to carry out assigned responsibilities and nationally as needed
