Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for maximizing rental of the facilities by broadening and diversifying client base and through aggressive sales approach. Specific target groups include convention and corporate programs and special events.
· Responsible for assisting all facilities on corporate, convention, and special event sales and marketing.
· Responsible for maintaining existing client relationships as well as renewing contracts for trade shows.
· Responsible for site inspections of facilities, submission of proposals, rental quotes, sales & contract negotiations.
· Required to interact with Event Services and Operations staff on the overall scope of client’s program in the preliminary stages.
· Development of all sales materials related to corporate/convention/special event sales.
· Responsible for the formation and maintenance of a lead system/existing client database.
· Responsible for working as liaison with in-house catering company and client on budget & menu selection.
· Developing and maintaining relationships with convention sales managers, local hotels, destination management companies, fortune 500 corporate entities and corporate meeting planners.
· All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Supervise all employees in the Sales Department.
· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; regarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; and managing crisis.
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university
· Minimum of five (5) years in the field of convention, hotel, trade show or meeting room sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrate knowledge and experience in the principles, practices, and terminology of public relations programs, advertising, marketing, sales presentations, and public speaking.
· Write, memos, reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
· Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists.
· Work with the Marketing Department to assist in responses to the media during crisis situations in a prompt, decisive and credible manner according to corporate and management policy.
· Operate a personal computer using current operating systems to include, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related standard office equipment.
· Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
· Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results.
· Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
· Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
· Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
