Director of Sales Growth & Category Management

The Director of Sales Growth & Category Management helps support and safeguard our ability to inspire, care for, and nurture life, every day, by leading Tatte’s café same store sales growth plan and strategies. Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Sales Growth & Category Management is responsible for developing, executing, and achieving same store sales growth plan and strategies that deliver annual and multi-year comp growth that exceeds our targets. In the driving of growth, the Director of Growth will be responsible for Tatte’s menu roll out calendar, category management, pricing, gift cards, and test and learn capabilities to test sales driving initiatives. The Director is ultimately also responsible for aligning comp growth plans and related-initiatives with Tatte’s brand purpose, mission, concept essence, and values.

Summary of Responsibilities

The Director of Sales Growth & Category Management’s responsibilities will range from Key Initiatives (KIs) Projects on which the Director will be completely accountable to and those in which the Director will exercise leadership through a project management/coordination role. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability and flexibility to drive growth in both roles.

Sales Growth

Menu Calendar – In conjunction with the CEO, the VP of Brand and Director of Culinary, develop and implement a rolling 12+ month Menu Calendar that is consistent with our brand positioning, allows us to remain a better competitive alternative, and creates intrinsic and extrinsic value. All celebrations need to include result expectations and post-mortem reviews. Pricing – Assess pricing to protect Tatte’s brand positioning while minimizing the impact to Tatte’s value perception. Shape guests’ value perception by pricing appropriately on highly competitive items. Expand margin when possible and ensure dollar margin protection that incorporates Tatte’s all in inflation. Inclusive of pricing tiers across the markets where Tatte operates Category Management – Develop and implement a plan to consistently increase gross profit per transaction and penny profit per transaction over time (food, beverage, bakery, and retail; by day part, week part, channel). Test and Learn approach to sales driving initiatives Develop and implement plan to significantly grow gift card sales year-over-year. Responsible and accountable for annual same store sales growth KIs and KI projects, including establishment of a comp roadmap and crossfunctional responsibility and leadership towards achieving comp goals.

Live, teach and uphold Tatte’s brand purpose, mission, concept essence, values, DEIB plan, and team member policies

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred. Minimum 5 yrs. experience in restaurant, retail or consumer packaged goods environment. Minimum 5 yrs. experience in strategy, pricing, and/or category management Previous experience in market research is strongly preferred. Effectively skilled at communicating, listening, and presenting to small and large groups. Ability to work collaboratively with people who don’t report to you and you need their support to do your job and /or they need your support to do their job. Ability and aptitude to meet business objectives in a way that is accretive to brand. Ability to work independently, self start and hold self accountable to goals and deadlines. Strong proficiency in Excel with basic proficiency in Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
