The Toros Soccer Program Director also coordinates and manages the MLS Next program for elite athletes. Location:This is a full-time on site position based in the Rio Grande Valley with preference given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate. Travel Expectations: Up to 30% What You’ll Do – Accountabilities In this role you will:Develop, implement and monitor soccer training programs for MLS student athletes in order to achieve performance progressSupervise full/part time staff, Charter League coaches, etc. who assist with the Toros soccer programAdminister the campus athletic budget to ensure that programs are cost effective, funds are managed prudently, and program has sufficient equipmentLiaison with MLS Next, attends meetings on behalf of IDEA Toros MLS Next clubCoach MLS team(s)Manage, support, and evaluate the performance of campus coaching staffMeet with coaches to discuss sport and player specific needs and design programs accordingly*Assesses the skill development of each student-athlete, and partners with coaches to ensure their ongoing comprehensive development, including quarterly performance reviews*Develops motivational approach to practice and games; incorporates school visionResponsible for overseeing staff for soccer camps staffing and working with APO on operations, scheduling and delivery, including an active role in daily camp coaching.Support recruiting and retention initiatives aimed at current and prospective student-athletes as requiredResponsible for team discipline and accountability of both student-athletes and coachesPartners with the student-athlete’s parent/guardian regarding their overall developmentEffectively communicates to student-athletes and their parents/guardiansEnsures that proper safety is maintainedAssists in the college placement of the student-athleteTravels to games and other events as needed (evenings and weekends as needed)Manage and coach P.E. Sessions daily for all IDEA Toros students of varying ability Monday through Friday, and MLS practices a minimum of 4 times per week per team.Adhere to all policies, procedures and ethic codes of IDEA Toros, IDEA Public Schools, MLS, TCSAAL, as well as federal and state laws.Quarterly evaluations of all playersEnsure supervision of student athletes on the field, in conditioning, in locker/shower roomsEnsure that health and safety precautions are observed during all activities.Coordinate logistics for competition travel, including but not limited to, rosters, hotel reservations, travel arrangements, student safety & supervision, chaperone training and supervision.Communicate and enforce expected student behavior related to athleticsAttends all practices and training sessions as needed, during season and off-seasonDevelop systems and expectations for verifying each athlete’s eligibility at pre-determined intervalsCoordinate athletic operations including facilities, officiating, and ticket sales for MLS eventsAssist Athletic Director in organizing and supervising the Charter League coaching staff to assure that the program is properly implemented.Other duties as assigned by Principal or other administrative staff What You Bring – Competencies Required Qualifications:Education: Degree in exercise science or related fields. Certification: Must hold a minimum ‘USSF A’ license (or equivalent as recognized by MLS NEXT Program Staff), including but not limited to the Elite Formation Coaching License (EFCL) or U.S. Soccer Academy Directors’ Course.Experience: 5+ years of experience in coaching, curriculum development and player development preferred Preferred Qualifications:BilingualCPR CertificationValid driver’s license with ability to drive for tournaments, games, travelExperience working in/at soccer camps Additional Skills:Management experience to include coaching, development, interviewing, etc.Proficiency in all soccer training and instructional techniquesExcellent teaching, management, organization and supervisory skillsStrong commitment to student-athletes and their developmentDesire to work collaboratively with colleaguesStrong written and verbal communication skillsCommitment to comprehensive excellence Physical Requirements:Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment in excess of 40 poundsAbility to handle outdoor conditions for a reasonable period of timeAbility to move around campus including gym, turf, fields, etc.Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidaysAbility to travel nationally for tournaments, clinics and events What We Offer:
Compensation & Benefits: Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $64,900 and $73,300 to commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity.
