FUNCTION: The purpose of this position is to serve those in need in our community with Salvation Army resources and donations through a team approach in the delivery of basic human needs services and through case management.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This is an outline of the general duties of the position of Director of Social Services at The Salvation Army Canton Citadel Corps, Canton, OH. It is in no way all-inclusive but does indicate the area of responsibility.
Oversee and provide Social Services at the Canton Citadel Corps.Assist with basic human needs of clients (rent/mortgage, utility assistance, food, clothing, emergency shelter, etc.).Based on client needs, provide appropriate referrals to other Social Service Agencies, including linking the client with community resources that may be needed.Partner and/or collaborate with agencies, groups, churches and individuals to assist in meeting client needs.Maintain daily and monthly records of clients and services rendered, including case plan and tracking (in both the electronic database(s) and in hard copy).Prepare all statistical reports (or oversee preparation), review and provide to Corps Officer(s) and to funding sources as required.Coordinate with Pathway of Hope program in conjunction with the POH Case Manager.Oversee the Food Pantry Manager and Food Pantry; including the purpose of food in conjunction with the FP Manager and by approval of Corps Officer(s) and coordinating Pantry volunteers with FP Manager.Administer the EFSP, ARPA-R, United Way, Energy Share and other grants/allocations and track the spending for reports (interview clients, determine eligibility and process for payment) and ensure compliance with all such funding sources.Oversee the Back to School Applications and Distribution in coordination with the Corps Officer(s).As necessary, coordinate referrals and process applications for Camp NEOSA Community Camp Sessions.Coordinate with the Corps Officer(s) the Christmas Assistance Program, including applications, Angel Tree, Adopt-a-Family, Food Drives, Toy Shop and distribution.Foster and maintain good community relationships and professionally represent The Salvation Army at community meetings, forums and conferences.Assist in preparation of annual operating budget and all funding proposals for Social Services Department.Maintain the department budget.Perform all duties in compliance with TSA policies and regulations.Other tasks/duties assigned by Corps Officers.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLs
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field or in process.LSW preferred.Minimum of five years experience in Social Services and/or not for profit arena.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to perform all duties in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policies and regulations.SPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Work well under pressure with attention to detail.Ability to multi-task.Self-motivated.Team player – willingness to assist other team members as needed.Ability to resolve conflict and keep staff on task.Must represent the Salvation Army’s spiritual ministry and social mission in all situations.Valid Driver’s LicenseProficient knowledge of computers and ability to learn and use a variety of software (Microsoft Office, etc.).COMMUNCATES WITH:
