Northrop Grumman Space Systems Strategic Deterrent Systems Division is seeking a Director of Software Engineering 1 to lead the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division Software team in supporting all programs across the Division.  The position will be located in Roy, UT, Huntsville AL or Manhattan Beach, CA.

Primary role would be to build and lead the common processes and tool in addition to providing the leadership and technical expertise in all phases of software development across all programs. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of requirements architecture and design, software development, Agile methodology, DevOps, operating in a restricted access DoD program environment, program management skills, proven strategic planning and business execution capabilities, as well as ability to work collaboratively.  The position will be a key leadership interfacing all Segments, IWO partners, Supplier Management leads and Customers in establishing the baseline program plans, validating the updates, follow-up and reporting.  The selected candidate should be able to interact and influence executive level management and communicate effectively with both oral and written presentations.

The Director of Software Engineering 1 position has the following duties and responsibilities:

Work in partnership with the Segments, Program Management Team and Program Leadership to define and enable execution of the Software statement of work in alignment with the customer SOWResponsible for leading the team consisting of the software requirements, architecture and system design, Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) certification, code development and software test disciplinesLead and direct software working groups charter with internal and customer stake holdersEstablish Software Community of Practice (COP) leveraging the best in class industry knowledgebaseKey member of the program leadership team to help create the alignment with the division software strategyResponsible for oversight of the end to end software developmentMaintain open communications with all Enterprise functions including Engineering, Quality, GSC, Logistics, Engineering Services and SegmentsDevelopment and execution of long-range plans and strategies while providing the most effective resources by skillsets to the programExperience working with Digital Environment integrating and reporting across the programOutline specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to moderately complex business problemsThe candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, NGC, and Supplier employees and leadershipHire and develop the diverse skilled employees, establish the mentorship and coaching culture including growing and strengthening the leadership bench

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business-related field and a minimum 10 years of related experience5 years’ experience in a formal management/lead position3+ years experience with:Management experience leading a technical and complex program effort.Experience developing and administering budgets and standards of performanceExperience in developing and implementing technologies associated with production processes with efficient and sustainable implementationU.S. Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance with investigation date/periodic review within last 5 years and ability to obtain program special access

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

Preferred candidate will be a proven leader; problem solver; possess a strong work ethic; and have excellent communications and interpersonal skills required to work closely with teammates, stakeholders and both internal and external customers.Familiarity with Northrop Grumman project execution, processes and procedures.Knowledge and experience with IFC and Agile software development in a classified environment

Salary Range: $181,000.00 - $314,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
