Director of Sourcing

JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Sourcing leads a team of professionals to develop, implement and execute the sourcing strategies for the purposes of optimizing supply chain, reducing costs, and improving quality and reliability of a supplier matrix that manufactures across 20 different countries. The Sourcing Director sets goals and directs team activities while managing a close partnership between the Buyers and Suppliers. The Director is a strategic partner in developing forward looking supply chains that create competitive advantages for At Home.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead the Product Partner Matrix process across multiple departments. Compile and analyze data (Product Partner Scorecard) and make recommendations for grow/maintain/decline status. Partner across Sourcing, Trend and other Merchandising Partners to align the matrix to business needs.  Identify gaps in the matrix and present recommendations to fill.  Balance global risks with country-of-origin diversification plans.  Communicate action plans with Agents/Product Partners. Assist in onboarding new agents/factories. Track, report and manage agent/factory performance. Lead a team of 5 to 8 professionals in driving margin savings through cost negotiations throughout the development process.  Identify cost improvement opportunities (i.e. bidding). Clarify and communicate specs and product engineering details, labeling and packaging instructions, and other information to in-country sourcing and/or vendors.  Negotiate the costs from the directives. Compile and submit costing worksheets for PO creation to Merchant Partners. Direct and enforce the product development calendar for optimal operational efficiency. Support strategic initiatives in coordination with Sourcing leadership and cross-functional partners. Execute, manage and report on production. Resolve any issues to ensure on-time delivery. Develop team talent across all areas. Build collaborative relationships with business and support teams. Perform project work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

10 years’ experience in a related field, 5 of which in a leadership role.  International sourcing/supply chain experience required.  Ability to engage in partnerships with cross functional teams in merchandising and design Ability to strategically influence peers and senior leadership.  Highly skilled in analytics, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, delivering presentations, and project management.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Demonstrates collaboration and is able to work well within a team setting.  Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.  Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

International Travel Required – Up to 25% of time.  Must be able to remain stationary at a desktop workspace for extended periods of time.  Ability to move about an office environment.
