As Spa Director you will be accountable for shaping the guest and employee experience by providing exceptional service in support of our world-renowned hotel. BASIC PURPOSE: The Director of Spa forms part of the Rooms Management Department and leaders and manages the Spa Department. The Spa Director provides cutting edge advice and makes key strategic and operational decisions for the Spa and Wellness department with regards to treatments and philosophies. Creates, develops and implements Spa and Wellness treatments and concepts, demonstrats effective retail management and supervises personnel such as Ayurvedic doctors, Herbalists, Medical Practioners.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & ACCOUNTABILITY:

The ability to supervise and develop the staff of the Spa & Fitness Center. The ability to interview, train, schedule, monitor employee performance, discipline, and associated administrative tasks for all personnel who report to him/her.The ability to creatively develop and grow the business Work on projects, collaborations and initiatives in line with the Spa budget.  The ability to manage all Spa related communications including in-house collateral, promotions, mailings, articles and bulletin boards.The ability to monitor operating the budget for the Spa and Wellness Department and generate necessary purchase requisitions.The ability to participate in all Spa Committee meetings and other hotel meetings as necessary. The ability to monitor the housekeeping standards and mechanical effectiveness of all facilities, report deficiencies as they occur and follow-up.The ability to maintain a safe and hazard free environment for all staff and members and promote safety awareness at all times.The ability to review all suggestions and comments from members and guests and make necessary adjustments.The ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records and statistics on the Spa as well as of Fitness Center.The ability to develop all operation manuals for department and implement training programs to ensure the growth of the department.The ability to ensure timely and effective performance reviews for the department.The ability to hold regular departmental meetings to assist in communication within department.The ability to manage the department, all employees’ performance, and guests and members concerns and comments.The ability to convey clear instructions and guidance to staff and establish working relationships that attain a high level of effective employee morale.The ability to respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

College education or equivalent experience in Spa management or Hospitality or equivalent experience.At least 5 years of previous employment in a related position.Experience in a luxury Spa / Hotel property.Demonstrated superior knowledge of spa, wellness and holistic offerings.Thorough knowledge of 5-star service standards, effective application of spa staffing models, proven ability to create and implement spa service menus, effective retail management, successful marketing strategies, and demonstrated ability to project costs, revenue and to adhere to the budget that supports monthly / annual financials.
