Collegiate Sports Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Director of Sports Performance is responsible for establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for 24 varsity sports and Club Rowing, as well as overseeing the Varsity Weight Room, student staff, performance equipment, and scheduling at Gordon College. The level of responsibility includes areas specific to nutrition education, sports performance, sports medicine, and the safety and welfare of our student-athletes.

1.Responsible for the instruction and development of student-athletes, including sport-specific technique, strategic play, safety, and key aspects of their position. 2.Design and implement strength and conditioning programs for 24 varsity intercollegiate programs for pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods and provide instruction to student-athletes during strength and conditioning training sessions. 3.Work collaboratively with sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured student-athletes, including during Return-to-Play process. 4.Develop systems for tracking student-athlete performance and progress in collaboration with sport programs. 5.Complete an annual budget proposal for the Sports Performance area that includes routine maintenance, purchase of new equipment and other needs, and assist in scheduling and organizing the daily use of the Varsity Weight Room, including necessary staff coverage. 6.Provide nutrition counseling or education as needed to student-athletes looking to enhance sports performance. 7.Ensure that equipment and exercises follow the best practices for safety. 8.Comply with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), conference, Athletics Department, and Gordon College rules and regulations. 9.Contribute to the overall success of the Athletics Department and Gordon College by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

1.Develop and maintain professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues, faculty and staff, campus administration, alumni, friends of the college, and trustees. 2.Participate in the life of the Gordon College community. 3.Participate and attend campus meetings and functions as needed. 4.Work within the framework of the rules and regulations of Gordon College.

To fully perform the above functions, the incumbent must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, or demonstrate that the major responsibilities of the job can be accomplished, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some combination of skills and abilities.

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. Current and ongoing certification through either the NSCA (CSCS) or CSCCa (SCCC/MSCC) are required. Current standard first aid, CPR, and AED certifications. Understanding and appreciation of Christian liberal arts higher education. Preference will be given to individuals with previous intercollegiate athletics experience and 2+ years of strength and conditioning experience. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to working in intercollegiate athletics and to the principles that guide Division III athletics. Successful candidates will demonstrate the potential for collaborative leadership, a high degree of personal initiative, and a commitment to developing students. Positive mindset, solution-oriented style of leadership to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. In addition, all candidates must have the ability to relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, and the College community, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, exhibit strong time management and organizational skills, and possess proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
