Director of Staff Development, RN / Wound Care, RN/ Infection Control, RN
We Are Inspired to Serve. Join us!Responsible for the leading orientation/onboarding and continuing in-service education programs for all skilled nursing employees. Plans and leads the specified in-service education programs for all employees, including content and curriculum development. Ensures training compliance to assure quality resident care and regulatory compliance. May have facility wide training responsibilities as well, including Infection Control programs and education.

 Training and Education:

Plan, schedule, and teach (as appropriate) all in-services for licensed nurses, nursing assistants and other staff as required by the state.Create and develop training / programming based on business or regulatory needs.Utilize staff resources and suggestions and make use of community services to enhance the educational development of staff.Maintain appropriate recordkeeping systems that will demonstrate compliance in all staff in-services.Support department managers in planning, presenting and evaluating in-service programs.May lead other types of training, including technology based training and infection control training for the facility.Measure training and in-service effectiveness.  Ensure continuous improvements are made.Manages all campus in-services and does the training or brings in appropriate speakers in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Staff Leadership:

Assist in staff supervision, training, performance appraisals and discipline. Make recommendations for hiring, discipline and termination.May have direct reports, based on the location.Conduct general orientation / onboarding for employees to their work areas.Establish contact with staff and be a resource by building effective relationships.

Compliance, Policy, and Procedure:

Support and interpret policies and procedures to staff.Participate in community events and networking to stay in tune with key trends and changes.Represent facility as appropriate in the community.Ensures regulatory training requirements are implemented and completed.  Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.Actively participates in annual state surveys and with health care administrative team communicates results to residents, families and staff and oversees resolution of any deficiencies within time frame established on survey.Keeps current on all changes in the industry, particularly regulatory changes.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Required Degree:   Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Degree:   Master’s degree

Certificate(s):

Completion of any state required training or certifications, such as Infection Control certification and the like.Active RN license in good standing.

Experience: 

2 years’ experience in geriatric nursing.1 year experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing.Previous leadership or managerial experience is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize.Proven ability to follow through, take initiative, and get results.Excellent interpersonal relations and communication skills.Must have the ability to plan and carry out responsibilities independently.Ability to create effective training materials and programs, and communicate in a manner conducive to learning.Demonstrated leadership ability to lead projects and programs effectively.Excellent computer and technology skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires mobility to move around the office and throughout the facility.  Manual dexterity and keen vision are necessary in use of a computer and to perform various nursing duties.  Must be able to support up to 100 pounds, lift up to 25 pounds independently and lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.  May be exposed to unpleasant conditions and is at risk of exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. 

This position may require availability on weekends and holidays, or on shifts other than the one for which hired. It may also require work beyond normal working hours and in other nursing positions on a temporary basis as needs arise.

Equipment used in performance of duties includes general office equipment as well as routine nursing equipment and Audio-Visual equipment.  General office equipment includes but is not limited to:  telephone system, copier, computer, typewriter, calculator, and fax machine.

Routine nursing equipment includes but is not limited to:  thermometer, stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, wheelchair, patient lifts, IV equipment, suction machines, nebulizer machines, and oxygen equipment, voice assistant and headset
