Director of Sustainability

Job Description:

Indorama Ventures - Indovinya is currently looking for a dynamic individual to work as a Sustainability Director at our divisional headquarters in The Woodlands, TX.   In this role, you will lead Indovinya's global forward progress achieving the Sustainability Strategy which is a core pillar of our business strategy. The position plays a pivotal role in advancing and pushing forward the existing global program and building upon it to further embed it in the core of how we develop and operate. The role will engage with both internal and external stakeholders, to provide customer centricity and represent Indovinya as a reference in Sustainability.  Continue to advance and support Indovinya’s public commitments towards reducing the environmental impacts of our facilities and products, continually seeking ways to expand upon those to truly encompass the broadest range of opportunities to positively impact the environment and communities in which we operate. The position works directly with the Sustainability Governance Committee to develop and implement strategies and initiatives and leads the governance of Indovinya’s Sustainability Strategy. 

What will be expected from you?

Plan and lead the implementation of continuous improvement in the strategy, guidelines, and global sustainability tools, ensuring that they are aligned with the trends, best practices, and technologies.Structure and sustain the sustainability management in the Product Portfolio. Collaborate with R&D, Marketing and Sales to identify and execute the Product Sustainability Strategy.Provide training and materials to the Commercial teams to facilitate them in establishing Indovinya as a reference for Sustainability.Identify and monitor sustainability projects (energy cogeneration, biomass, eco-efficiency, natural resources consumption reduction, social investments, reverse logistics, etc.).  Generate value, establish partnerships, and promote sustainability in the value chain.   Ensure that customer sustainability requirements are met and deployed.  Participate and promote best practices in the sustainability forums and committees. Assess the applicability of Sustainability certifications (modalities and scopes), based on the company's strategic alignment, marketing guidelines and identified needs. Participate in industry conferences and meetings. Maintain current knowledge of Sustainability trends and practices in the industry to adapt to changing regulatory environment.  Identify and implement best practices to continuously improve Sustainability practices.Represent Indovinya in technical committees of federal and state councils and trade associations by participating in meetings, conferences and activities, benchmarking with industry peers, sharing highlights with company, and influencing continuous improvement of the chemical sector.Define and sustain the Indovinya sustainability governance, which includes committees, working groups and definition of roles and responsibilities.Facilitate and work directly with the Sustainability Governance Committee to develop and implement strategies and initiatives and lead the governance of Indovinya’s Sustainability Strategy. Define, execute, and promote the short-, medium-, and long-term strategy for Sustainability. Guarantee the construction, review, validation, communication, and deployment of the materiality matrix. Identify and monitor the sustainability risks (reduction) and opportunities (evolution) for the business units. Define, standardize, and disclose, internally and externally, Sustainability indicators, based on nationally and internationally recognized models. Lead and support the Sustainability Committees.Define and sustain the Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Program. Evaluate applicability, plan, and obtain sustainability certifications: ECOCERT, RSPO, TFS, Company B, etc. Perform benchmarking on sustainability for improvement, with other companies, when applicable. Prepare and issue the annual Indovinya Sustainability Report.Disclose sustainability information, internally and externally, such as internal reports, presentations, and requests of interested parties, such as customers, shareholders, community, among others.Define systems and software related to sustainability and monitor its use throughout the company together with the supplier and the Information Technology area. Provide guidance and technical support in related themes. Coordinate actions related to awards and other external recognitions.Define and manage the global sustainability budget.  Encourage and promote the financial benefit of Sustainability-related activities, such as improvements in products and services, process optimization, reduction of losses and negative impacts, among others.Standardize activities when this brings benefits to the processes, respecting the culture of each location. Promote Sustainability activities aligned with the best practices in the market.Promote a culture where all employees globally receive adequate training on sustainability, according to their functions. Communicate sustainability and raise awareness through workshops, newsletters, campaigns, and internal and external matters.  Promote sustainability in the management of human capital. Define and sustain the Corporate Social Responsibility strategy (Volunteer Program, Quality of Life, Community Councils, Diversity & Inclusion). Develop the sustainability team, as well as technical and behavioral management ensuring the definition and monitoring of individual performance targets aligned to the objectives of IOD, providing frequent feedback, motivating, and guiding the team. Accountable for recruiting, hiring and development of global Segment Sustainability employees.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

Post-graduate in Sustainability, Business, Communications or Sciences desirableB.S. degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or similar disciplineAt least 5 years of demonstrated experience in Sustainability required.At least 10 years of leadership and team management in the chemical or petrochemical industry required.At least five years’ experience in direct/indirect management required.Periodic international/regional travel required.Fluent English speaker required, Spanish and Portuguese desired.Positive and motivated self-starter with successful track record in changing environment.Organizational savvy.Customer centric.Excellent organizational, teamwork and prioritization skills are essential.Ability to communicate with clarity, impact, and passion to help drive a growing EHS program, adapting messaging as appropriate based on the audience.Able to collaborate across all levels of the organization to enable and drive change.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and motivate teams. Ability to exercise strong judgement to balance business needs and achieve objectives.Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate, organize and manage multiple concurrent priorities, projects, and training programs.Excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.MS Office PackageSimaPro/Gabi (Desirable)
