The Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center seeks applicants to direct our new Antisemitism and the Law Clinic. The appointment will be as Director of the clinic and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law with an annual contract. The Antisemitism and the Law Clinic will be part of a robust collaborative in-house law practice. The clinic will advise clients on legal issues relating to antisemitism issues. The Clinic will work with organizations and firms to provide education and discuss issues on antisemitism and the law. The clinic may also engage students in the drafting of legislation and or legislative testimony to combat antisemitism. Applicants are expected to be willing and capable of teaching in-person and remotely and familiar with best practices in both modalities.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
Working with clinical law faculty on providing instruction and guidance to students on ethical and professional standards for law practice and the law pertinent to the Center’s workSupervise students and also handle cases for the Antisemitism and the Law ClinicKeeping accurate electronic records regarding casesPrepare and teach graduate law student courses in a physical classroom and/or a virtual classroomPrepare course materials such as syllabi assessments and handoutsTimely grade student assignmentsMaintain regularly scheduled office hours in order to advise and assist studentsStay current in and continually strive to improve teaching skills and expertise in the subjects that they teachStay informed of changes in the law and remain current in recent statutory changes and case law developmentsCollaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issuesCommit to service to legal education and to the wider communityEngage in the intellectual life of the Law CenterParticipate on faculty committeesAttend faculty meetings and Law Center events Qualifications Education/ ExperienceJuris Doctor required.Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law schoolExperience in legal issues relating to Antisemitism and the LawPrior law clinic experience is desiredKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
