**The Behavioral Health Crisis Outreach and Education (BHCore) Center has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Training for frontline workers and for students who aspire to work in the field of crisis response.** This role is filling a gap in training and supports frontline crisis responders in WA State who are working within the 911 and 988 response systems, which are organized regionally. In this role, there may also be the opportunity in the future to educate bachelor’s and master’s level students who are considering working within the specialization of crisis response. The Director of Training will be responsible for overseeing workforce training and policy initiatives related to field response for first responders, including fire, EMS, police, social workers, and other crisis outreach responders. This role will work with the Faculty Director to develop and disseminate training, to develop strategies around new training, and to implement and provide training in the field. The Director of Training will work with an evaluation specialist to evaluate and continuously update the training to reflect audience feedback and will work with large numbers of subject matter experts to enhance and update training. This role will work with the Continuing Education Coordination to ensure that all training experiences are run impeccably and with the Executive Director to ensure revenue and contract streams to fund the work are maintained and grown.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Drafting, updating, curriculum for frontline responder training programs (15%):
The Director of Training for BHCore will be responsible for developing and refining the curriculum used in frontline response training programs. This includes creating educational materials, lesson plans, and training modules that align with best practices and industry standards. The curriculum should cover a wide range of topics related to crisis response strategies, mental health interventions, crisis management, and effective communication techniques.
Meeting with stakeholders and team members to align training initiatives with organizational goals (5%):
In this role, the Director of Training will engage with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and internal team members, to ensure that training initiatives are in line with the organization's strategic objectives. This involves conducting meetings, gathering feedback, and collaborating with various stakeholders to tailor training programs to meet the specific needs of the target audience.
Developing a training program to support trainers in delivering crisis responder training effectively (15%):
The Director of Training will design a comprehensive training program to equip trainers with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to effectively deliver co-response training. This may include providing instructional materials, conducting train-the-trainer sessions, and offering ongoing support and guidance to trainers to enhance their delivery skills and effectiveness.
Providing training sessions with crisis teams and other relevant stakeholders (35%):
As the lead trainer, the Director of Training will be responsible for conducting training sessions for co-response teams and other stakeholders involved in the program. These sessions may cover topics such as de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention strategies, trauma-informed care, and collaborative approaches to addressing mental health crises in the community.
Coaching and supporting crisis response teams to enhance their performance and effectiveness (5%):
The Director of Training will play a key role in coaching and mentoring co-response teams to improve their performance and effectiveness in the field. This may involve providing feedback, offering guidance on best practices, and facilitating team-building activities to strengthen collaboration and communication among team members.
Implementing e-training modules for remote learning opportunities (5%):
In response to the growing demand for remote learning, the Director of Training will develop and implement e-training modules to provide co-response training opportunities online. This may include creating digital resources, interactive modules, and virtual training sessions to accommodate the needs of a diverse and geographically dispersed audience.
Supervising and leading a team of trainers, support staff, practicum instructors (20%):
As a supervisor, the Director of Training will oversee a team of trainers and support staff involved in delivering frontline response training. This includes providing leadership, guidance, and support to ensure that team members are effectively carrying out their roles and responsibilities in alignment with the organization's mission and goals.
**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
• Master's Degree or higher education in a mental health discipline.
• Minimum of two years’ experience as a Crisis Responder.
_Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements._
Additional Requirements:
• Independently licensed with a Washington state-issued clinical practice license (e.g., LICSW, LMFT, LMHC).
• Experience developing and implementing trainings and curriculum.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and executive skill sets.
• Strong working knowledge of state requirements regulating mental health practice.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and changing environment.
• Passionate about advancing workforce training and policy in the behavioral health sector.
