OverviewThe Westin Beach Resort & Spa at Frenchman’s Reef is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Training and Development to lead and enhance the training initiatives across all departments, with a strong focus on Food and Beverage operations. This role is crucial to ensuring the highest level of service standards and guest satisfaction in our luxury resort setting. The Director will design, implement, and manage training programs to foster employee growth, elevate service quality, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
This in-office position is based in the beautiful St. Thomas and requires flexibility to work weekends and evenings, as needed. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for hospitality, extensive experience in Food and Beverage training, and a proven track record in a resort environment.
Responsibilities Develop, implement, and oversee training programs with a strong focus on Food and Beverage operations, ensuring all staff are fully trained in service standards, safety protocols, and guest satisfaction strategies.Lead the continuous improvement of training programs across all resort departments to align with the brand’s vision and goals.Ensure all Food and Beverage staff are ServSafe and Tipped Certified, and maintain up-to-date certifications for all team members.Collaborate with department heads to identify training needs and develop tailored programs for different teams.Conduct onboarding and ongoing training sessions, ensuring all employees meet the resort’s performance standards.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making adjustments as necessary to improve outcomes.Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, particularly within the resort and Food and Beverage sectors, to continuously enhance training methods.Manage the training budget, ensuring all programs are cost-effective.Act as a resource and mentor for managers, providing leadership development and coaching as needed.Ensure compliance with all local and international labor laws, safety standards, and company policies. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospitality, with a strong emphasis on Food and Beverage operations is preferred.Experience in a resort or luxury hotel environment is strongly preferred.ServeSafe Certified and Tipped Certified Trainer credentials are prefered.Proven experience developing and implementing training programs, with a track record of improving service quality and employee performance.Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire team members at all levels.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.Proficiency in standard office software and training management tools.
