Job Summary

 

Lightpath Fiber is seeking a Director of Outside Plant Engineering to develop and oversee our Layer 1 network. Responsibilities include outside plant network design, OSP engineering management and fiber cable capacity management, and day to day operational leadership and support. This is for a multi-market position spanning from east coast to west coast.

 

We’re looking for a highly skilled, enthusiastic outside plant engineering director to help us plan, design, permit, deploy, and operate a best-in-class network delivering services to all types of customers, small business, enterprise, and carrier services. Our ideal candidate will have extensive fiber optic network design and deployment experience. Permitting and network construction experience are a plus.  You will track, manage and report on a key set of network engineering metrics across multiple cities. You will work with our internal sales team, engineering vendors and operations team to ensure the overall network design and deployment will support rapid growth, projected revenue targets and future expansion opportunities. You will also play a key role on the Lightpath leadership team, actively contributing to Lightpath growth strategy and supporting the lead and his/her peer group in executing that strategy.

Responsibilities

 

Oversee all aspects of OSP fiber network architecture and design. Oversee multiple markets from an OSP fiber engineering prospective with a team of OSP managers across the markets. Own fiber engineering vendor management through the permitting process. Manage customer expectation from a design, quality and schedule prospective. Oversee all aspects of OSP fiber capacity management in all markets. Provide planning and leadership for all network growth and augmentation activities. Continually innovate to improve network cost, efficiency, resiliency and reliability. Provide support to install and activation teams on OSP related questions, design and architecture. Act as escalation point for anything OSP fiber engineering related. Interface with customers or potential customers, as needed. Interface with vendors and suppliers, as needed. Be available for after hours, nights, weekends, and holidays in case of network outages. Have fun designing, building and supporting a greenfield network from the ground up. Qualifications 10 + years work experience in OSP fiber network planning and engineering, deployment or operations. Strong understanding of OSP fiber architecture and design in public rights of way. Ability to build estimates and budgets for complex capital projects and commercial customer solutions. A strong understanding of GIS, inventory and capacity management tools and processes. Support in the development of ESRI, Salesforce, Oracle systems and process to become efficient and effective from a day to day work flow process prospective. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Excellent technical trainer and mentor. Familiar with network inventory systems and platforms. Highly organized and communicative with colleagues and leaders. Ability to adapt to a changing environment. Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
