Job Description

Provides operational and strategic leadership for Patient Access activities in support of the system's mission and values. Oversees teams that obtain and validate the patient clinical, demographic and insurance information needed to authorize care and properly submit claims for reimbursement. Collaborates with Patient Accounts, IS&T, physician practices and other operational departments to direct registration, verification, authorization, and other Patient Access activities assigned. Functions as a system resource and role model for Patient Access functions. Collaborates as needed with other leaders and teams related to scheduling, admissions, pre-certification, authorization, and financial assistance/charity. Proactively supports the delivery of safe patient care and services at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

Experience

5+ years of management experience in health care Patient Access areas responsible for registration, scheduling, data verification and/or other financial clearance responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications

Masters of Business AdministrationExperience with Epic Patient Access and Revenue Cycle applicationsKnowledge of health care Revenue Cycle functions outside Patient Access

Job Responsibilities

Provides operational leadership, strategic leadership, and accountability for assigned Patient Access areas in support of the system’s mission and values.Achieves department goals and expectations related to performance, budget and employee retention and engagement.Tracks department performance, throughput and wait times and takes action to address issues identified. Utilizes quality metrics as well as feedback from customers, employees, business partners, patient families and others.Collaborates with other Access, Finance, Revenue Cycle and Operational leaders and teams to understand how the department impacts, and is impacted, by other areas.Manages and leads teams assigned including interviewing, hiring, training, developing, directing work and processes, managing performance, recognizing, and rewarding employees.Mentors team members to encourage personal and professional growth. Encourages ongoing skill development by providing opportunities for continued education.Supports the mission, vision, and values of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the department.
