Job Overview:
Trinitas Regional Medical Center s Mother Baby Unit supports 3 4 births per day. Nurses care for 3 4 couplets with a focus on patient education and patient safety. Our primary emphasis is our total care approach, where we create a supportive environment for family bonding, both for the birth family and the nurses caring for the birth family. Nurses on this team will float between post-partum and well-baby nursery areas, including our Special Care Nursery (more details below). The Director of Patient Care will oversee Perinatal Services, Labor & Delivery, Mother Baby, and the Special Care Nursery to support a total care approach based on our individual patients needs.

The Director will manage the staffing, budget and quality measure of the unit. Staff oversight includes responsibility for multiple teams, including Registered Nurses, Clinical Care Techs, Operating Room Techs, and other support staff such as Unit Secretaries. The leader will play an integral part of the Nursing Leadership Team at RWJBH Trinitas.
The Director is responsible for nursing care provided to the birthing population through recruitment and retention of talented staff, management of the aforementioned team members, improvement of quality and patient experience, and ensuring safety within the culture of a Highly Reliable Organization.

Additional Information about the Labor & Delivery Team at Trinitas:
Nursing care for newborns requires a Level II nursery. As a leader of a Special Care Nursery [SCN], you will encounter direct and specialized care for newborns needing close monitoring due to premature birth, birth defects, infection or other medical conditions requiring close observation and assessment.
Working in the SCN with doctors and other healthcare professionals, our SCN nurses assist in developing and implementing a plan of care for high-risk newborns requiring high-technology care, including ventilators, incubators or other special equipment or surgery.
Our team fully supports breast-feeding by encouraging pumping; use of breast milk as possible; allowing for privacy during feeding; providing encouragement; utilizing resources for difficult feeding situations; and double-checking identification of stored breast milk prior to use. The team participates in and assures preparation for neonatal transport.
