Summary
Assumes the responsibility for operational management, leadership, professional development, and quality of care delivery surgical services. Provides leadership to an interdisciplinary team of perioperative services to assess the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of services delivered. Works collaboratively to develop and implement plans for maintenance and improvement.
Job DutiesOversees administrative and operational issues for the perioperative team. Prepares and manages annual operating and capital budget for cost center(s). Serves as a clinical expert for complex and/or highly specialized patient care situations and other healthcare professionals within the hospital and community. Provides clinical, consultative, technical, or informational services to staff, other disciplines, patients, and/or families. Assists in the development and implementation of evidence-based standards of nursing care protocols/standards designed to facilitate improved care practices and promote positive patient outcomes. Develops department capital equipment budgets and implements a financial plan. Uses pertinent data to evaluate departmental productivity and overall standards of operations. Monitors vacancy and turnover rates and implements unit programs to achieve minimal vacancies and reduce turnover. Educates staff on all regulatory requirements regarding privacy and patient safety goals (OSHA, HIPPA, Joint Commission, ADA, etc.). Utilizes evidence-based research findings within patient care delivery and communicates research findings to colleagues and/or the professional community.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree Nursing 5 years Ability to care for patients utilizing a developmental perspective. Demonstrates initiative and ability to function independently and work collaboratively. Demonstrates initiative and anticipates issues, develops strategies, and implements changes. Demonstrates time management and organizational skills. Demonstrates proficiency in directing and guiding personnel. Demonstrates an understanding of change theory.
