The Director Planning is responsible for identifying and developing strategies by category of business based on a combination of the company’s directives, market feedback, customer insights, and historical data. Partners with Merchandise Managers to co-lead the implementation of the department strategies for their categories of business. Responsible for sales and inventory management within their business. Interfaces with cross-functional partners to ensure proper coordination and execution of assortment and merchandise financial plans. Manages and develops merchandise and associate merchandise planners. Aligns allocation plans to department merchandise strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivers sales and margin targets for the areas of responsibility through adoption and engagement, and execution of the Go To Market processDirects and guides development of preseason financial plans that align financial KPI’s to support merchandise and assortment planning strategies. Leads a team across multiple categories to analyze, identify, and plan preseason category and assortment plans to support a strategic view of merchandise line (SVL) Leads a team to address in season opportunities through sales, receipts, markdown and inventory management.Supports their direct reports by influencing and directing cross-functional teams in support of planning strategies.Manages, coaches, and develops merchandise planners and associate merchandise plannersRepresents gender (or channel) as proxy for VP/SVP when necessary
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceExperience: 10+ years merchandise / planning experienceProven analytical skillsRetail math expertiseStrong written and verbal communication skills
