Director Planning

Position Summary

 

Lead/manage the Sales & Operations Planning process for consumables and applicable accessories for Healthcare and Life Science business units. Responsible for Customer fill rates, sales forecasting, inventory management, and master production scheduling. This includes developing forecasting models and parameters, maintaining inventory parameters, developing rough-cut capacity plans, supply plans and some tactical purchasing. Manage, direct, and implement operational objectives and goals within the IPT Operations team.  Measure performance results to objectives and complete root cause analysis on results.

What you’ll do as the Director of Planning

 

Lead monthly S&OP process for consumables and applicable accessories including demand management, supply/fulfillment, and forecasting activities. Develop and implement an overall Materials Plan for raw material through finished goods to optimize inventory and fulfillment. Responsible for all aspects of procurement and supplier management for service part procurement which includes internal supply sources. Ensure standard utilization of available tools and processes for optimum performance and establish a methodology for continuous improvement of S&OP and related business processes. Take ownership if key supply-demand/service-cost issues to ensure timely resolution, work directly on the resolution of Customer service issues. Work directly with key functional stakeholders across domestic and international business areas to improve business strategy, validate forecast accuracy and methodology, ensure the alignment of demand forecast with business strategies, and inventory management strategy.  Work with direct staff and manufacturing counterparts to ensure on-time deliveries to Customers while minimizing inventory investments and increasing inventory turns. Create and utilize system reporting to assist with problem resolution. Conduct and/or facilitate data analysis to identify issues, gaps, trends, etc. Recommend and implement solution. Develops and / or supports the development of all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Updates SOP’s as required. Provide strategic and tactical direction to staff and identify and facilitate delivery of training when necessary. Summarize and monitor key performance measures applicable to S&OP execution. Develop action plans as necessary. Leads and participates in strategy and tactics for employee engagement, talent development, succession planning, employee, and labor relations.  Provides an engaging work environment, fosters two-way communication, hires, evaluates performance, provides feedback, development assignment opportunities, provides coaching/mentoring, and holds them accountable for meeting established KPI’s.  Performs other operations-related responsibilities that may be assigned.
  The Experience, Skills, and Abilities needed

 

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, engineering, chemistry, supply chain, or related field required. Minimum 10 years’ experience in supply chain, manufacturing operations, manufacturing related processes. Minimum 7 years’ experience in an Operations - related leadership role.  Minimum 2 years’ experience working with medical device requirements Minimum 5 years lean manufacturing experience and knowledge. 

 

Preferred:

Experience working with a similar industrial environment.

 

Other:

Thorough understanding of the functional mechanics and general practices and operations of Human Resources, Manufacturing, Finance, Engineering, Materials Management and Quality System requirements. Demonstrated strengths in leadership, business acumen, developing partnerships/relationships, delivering results, organizing and analysis, planning, strategy development, verbal and written communication including presentation skills, and sufficient computer skills.

This is a hybrid role with the requirement of working onsite at our Mentor, Ohio Corporate HQ location 3 days per week.
