The Design Center creates differentiated products, services, and experiences at AdventHealth.
The AdventHealth Design Center works across all markets to bring exceptional consumer and
team member experiences to life. These teams report through the Chief Strategy Officer and their
work directly impacts the strategic agenda of AdventHealth, one of the United State’s largest nonprofit
healthcare systems.
As the Design Research Director at the Design Center, you lead the team in planning and
executing research programs that result in actionable design criteria for the development of
new products, services, and customer experiences. You will drive mixed methods and the
appropriate methods including qualitative, quantitative, and secondary research. You will be
responsible to identify consumer trends, unmet needs and opportunities for innovation. You
will lead evaluative user research in the iterative development and validation of service
prototypes to prove and scale service innovation across the AdventHealth enterprise. You will
work closely with direct reports, designers, researchers, operators, and cabinet executives to
develop deep insights, generate design criteria, and frame design opportunities based on
research findings. You will be responsible for managing and growing the design research team.
You will also be responsible for working closely and managing the data collection with other
analytic teams including the Consumer Listening Engine, Consumer Analytics, AIT Analytics,
Financial Analytics and other external quantitative data sources.
**The value you’ll bring to the team:**
• Builds, maintains, and improves the existing business intelligence and analytics tools across the department and across the business.
• Extracts, verifies, complies, analyzes, and formats data from other healthcare industry databases and other sources for planning, decision making, evaluation and accountability purposes.
• Develop, integrate, and communicate actionable insights from multiple analysis sources and disciplines, e.g. secondary and primary market research, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and business analytics.
• Supports Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Research in the due diligence process related to potential acquisitions or divestitures of healthcare facilities
• Provide end user reports with quality information and caveats, including actionable information
• Present analysis and recommendations to senior administration and leadership.
• Assists in the due diligence as appropriate to the project. Example: Valuation processes for acquisitions, mergers or divestitures for departments involved in those functions.
• Performs planning research and analysis.
• Performs reconciliations and quality assurance of Finance data through the use of analytical and audit procedures to ensure system data integrity
• Maintains the internal HPM and external databases (i.e. AHCA, etc.). Acquires and retrieves data as necessary, provides for timely updates and assists in design and ease of use of the data for the end user
• Write and prepare narrative and statistical reports of research findings and program updates including indicator reports; prepare charts, graphs, and tables of research findings using spreadsheet / presentation software
• Trains team of manager and research analysts. Provides direction to managers and research analysts on a regular basis; including but not limited to new request interpretation; data-issue reconciliation. Assists managers and research analyst in prioritizing workloads. Reviews research analyst output prior to it leaving the department
• Assembles data for and in conjunction with yearly corporate strategic planning process
• Monitors service line volumes and goals and maintain and continues to develop service line definitions
• Work effectively at both detail and big-picture levels and to drive projects forward
• Conduct oneself professionally, maintain confidence and confidentiality as well as integrity and objectivity
• Make sound recommendations with sound analysis that add significant and broad benefits to the company
• Be self-motivated requiring negligible management supervision
Qualifications
**The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:**
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:**
• Ability to synthesize and integrate actionable insights from results across all analytical methodologies, i.e. market research, market analysis, forecasting, and competitive intelligence
• Solid understanding of common market research frameworks and methods with proven ability to lead research projects
• Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical abilities
• Ability to mentor, lead, and coach a small team of managers and data analysts while still completing projects of his/her own
• Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously
• Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports
• Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
• Ability to prioritize workloads and give clear direction
• Ability to present information and communicate results in an effective manner
• Quality focused with attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills
• Ability to use advanced statistical modeling techniques to convert data into actionable market insights
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think and act strategically
• Superb communication skills explaining complex quantitative models to Business Development, Service line Institutes, Marketing, and other Senior Executives within AdventHealth
• Achieve defined project goals within customer deadlines; proactively communicate status and escalate issues as needed
• Quality-focused with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to drive impact through quantitative data methodologies such as but not limited to: requirements gathering structured query language, statistical programming, machine learning, probability statistics, data management, statistical analysis, statistical visualization, econometrics, data forecasting.
• Ability to drive impact through qualitative research methodologies and tools which may include but is not limited to: observation, contextual inquiry, individual interviews, group sessions, as well as qualitative survey.
• Ability to drive secondary research: leveraging online publications, purchased research reports, and in/out of category trends.
• Ability to derive and communicate actionable insights from complex qualitative research findings, and basic quantitative data sets.
• Able to conduct on-site ethnography and in-hospital contextual interviews, office environments, and in consumers’ homes as appropriate to projects.
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:**
• Working knowledge of Minitab, survey techniques, and research methodology
• Knowledge in SQL
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:**
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing Research, Statistics, or related field
• 5 years of experience in a quantitative or computing field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics or Industrial Engineering
• Broad knowledge and understanding of advanced statistical, machine learning, and/or data mining techniques
• Demonstrated supervisor experience and ability to manage a team
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:**
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Econometrics, Healthcare, or related field
