Director Quantitative Specialist, FIWA Investment Services
Job Description:

The Role

The Director, FIWA Investment Services will have responsibility for tasks and functions supporting investment professionals in the FIWA Investment Office. Responsibilities include helping to define a technology-led, scalable operational support model to support FIWA’s research and portfolio management capabilities and leading these workflows. The role will require technological and data expertise, collaboration with various groups across Fidelity in support of the investment process, and alignment with the research and portfolio management teams to support their daily needs.

Lead strategic buildout of data-driven operational processes to support execution of FIWA’s investment processes supporting research and portfolio management

Design streamlined and automated operational processes, with a focus on embedded quality and reasonability checks to ensure integrity of inputs, processing, and outputs of the investment process

Lead execution of production workflows supporting non-discretionary portfolio management, generation of quantitative research, and distribution of quantitative and fundamental research to downstream consumers

Lead the implementation of quarterly processes, communication and escalation protocols and documentation for workflows

Be the subject matter expert for the FIWA portfolio management and research production processes including portfolio construction data, model rebalances, and distribution of FIWA Investment IP

Articulate, prioritize, and deliver the operational and platform needs of FIWA’s Investment Office

Support design and execution of controls in investment processes, collaborating with investment teams

Work with technology partners and key stakeholders to develop and refine investment infrastructure vision, roadmap, and prioritization needs across FIWA

Define and develop support models for new investment capabilities, from analysis/design phase through development, testing and rollout

Develop and maintain strong relationships at multiple levels with key internal and cross company business partners, act as advocate for FIWA throughout the organization

Engage with external stakeholders, such as discretionary management providers, on behalf of FIWA

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

10+ years working experience

A Bachelor’s degree in finance, math, accounting, engineering, or computer science. Master’s Degree or CFA Charter are preferred but not required

Fluency in MS Excel, advanced level SQL and ability to traverse a wide array of database schemas across diverse content sets

Experience programming in Python or R with the ability to develop customized quantitative tools

Experience with Morningstar, FactSet, and/or eVestment is a plus

Knowledge of Security Reference data across Asset Classes and familiarity with security, fund and index performance measurement, predictive risk modeling and performance attribution

Highly analytical with the ability to quickly comprehend large data sets in order to develop new processes, perform calculations, identify anomalies, and/or produce new reporting capabilities

Comfortable working with investors and a deep understanding of various investment processes

Ability to define technical requirements and codify automated production processes

Excellent judgment, issue management experience, and problem-solving skills

A demonstrated ability to define, document and build processes and workflows

Strong hands-on project leadership skills with the ability to complete complex projects as a part of a small team within a fast-paced environment

Partner with multiple areas of FIWA and FI including Portfolio Management, Research, Operations and Technology to ensure the required business needs to support and minimize risk are implemented and met 

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the quality of FIWA’s investment outputs
