She/he recommends, interprets and implements companywide policies and procedures to accomplish assignments and works with the Regulatory team and business partners to resolve a broad range of issues and opportunities. She/he ensures employees comply with policies, practices and procedures and is responsible for continuous process improvement. She/he also assures that quality of services meets internal and external customer requirements. The individual has division level influence and is a key opinion leader and an expert resource, both within Abbott and externally. She/he may influence changing regulations and guidance, interface with outside regulatory agencies and trade associations and provide executive management with regulatory metrics/information. The individual may also contribute to planning, directing and coordinating regulatory affairs activities related to products worldwide. **Required work experience:** + Progressive work experience in regulatory affairs or a related discipline in the nutritional, food product or life-sciences field. + Minimum five years of demonstrated experience at a supervisory/managerial level. + An advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration desired. Prior experience in Nutritional/Food/Ingredient area and thorough knowledge of regulatory affairs preferred. + Academic or in-house courses in leadership, training, Continuous Improvement (CI), cycle time improvement, etc., are preferred. RAPS certification desirable but not essential. **Other skills/Experience:** + Working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred. + Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment. + Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. + Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment. + Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization. Ability to speak and/or understand Spanish is preferred but not essential. + Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines in timely manner. + Ability to plan strategically and work independently. + Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable. + Ability to travel approximately 15-25%, including internationally.
