Director Research

 

 

CBS News and Stations is looking for an experienced Research Director to join the CBS Miami/CW Miami 33 team to manage research workflow, timeline development, and all projects! The ideal candidate will also have research oversight over our two independent stations in Atlanta and Tampa as well. 

The ability to translate digital research into meaningful stories to support cross platform sales projects is also key. We are looking for someone who is not only analytical, but creative and proactive and able to handle multiple projects. Here is what you will do: 

 

Build presentations for key sports sponsorships, Fall Lineup, as well as broadcast medium efficiency vs. other media options available to our clients and other topics. Serve as market guide in US of third-party software products that interpret syndicated research data. (Examples: WOMS, Media Monitors) Implement research strategies and strategic mentorship of projects that support the needs of the GM, DOSs, ND, Creative Services Director and sales staff. Build compelling research-based stories that reinforce the marketing power of the stations’ platforms and brands. Collaborate with content and the GMs to look for trends, story strategy, content ideas. Effectively manage the development of sales and marketing including; ratings one-sheets, sports packages, demographic targeting pieces, competitive spending data (Kantar) etc. The candidate will be an active participant in sales, promotional and news activities, including but not limited to presentations to clients, station management, and at full station staff meetings. Assure the consistency and efficiency of research training materials and workshops on various research methodologies and tools. Use PC and Web based software to compile and analyze media, consumer research, retail expenditures and product/lifestyle information in key retail categories. Responsible for daily overnights (preliminary and finals). Launch variance reports and sending sports time and program changes to ComScore and any media measurement companies. Responsible for competitive spending reports, including top advertisers report, zero share reports, category spending versus station share, and sports spending. Serve as station expert in use of third-party software products that interpret syndicated research data. (Examples: WOMS, Media Monitors) Hybrid role allowing for remote work and in-office reporting.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a detailed understanding of the methodology, depth and scope of Comscore, MRI, and other related syndicated media research data. Local Television Station research experience to drive audience growth in multiple competitive markets. Ability to distill findings and publish results using Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Able to present effectively to small and large groups of industry peers and clients. Use PC and Web based software to compile and analyze consumer research, retail expenditures, and product/lifestyle information in key retail categories. Translate research findings into concise and important presentations, innovative tools and creative leave-behind pieces. Understand and interpret quantitative research from media measurement services and manage the analyzing and distribution of key findings to sales staff. Able to work with cross-functional teams to identify content strategies and opportunities to grow audiences.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

College Degree in Marketing or Advertising or equivalent work experience. Experience in broadcast TV or cable. Highly proficient with a PC applying Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
