Job SummaryThe AVP of Resource Planning & Strategy will identify, manage, and hold accountable all BV and third-party resources needed to support the successful development of Diode’s portfolio of assets.
The AVP of Resource Planning & Strategy is responsible for working with the Diode team to understand external resource support needs and identifying and optimizing resources to meet those needs. Diode leverages a wide variety of Black & Veatch and third-party resources to perform asset development work around the world. As the Diode team and project portfolio grows, there is a need to organize, manage, and continue sourcing high-quality resources to support Diode’s asset development work. This role will enable Diode to continue scaling while ensuring all necessary supporting resources are available and accountable for delivery at a portfolio level vs. the project-by-project approach currently utilized. This role will take on resource management activities in order to free up capacity of Diode’s Project Development Managers, enabling these PDMs to focus on project delivery.
This role is expected to have a deep understanding of Black & Veatch’s organizational structure and must navigate working with various BV business leaders to secure the necessary resources to support Diode's projects. This role will perform the same duties for resources completely external to the BV family of companies.
Key Responsibilities Understand projected external resource support needs by gathering information internally from the project leads across Diode. This will require meeting regularly with all Project Development Managers to understand the location, scope, timeline, challenges, and relative priority of development tasks. Such tasks will include engineering support, environmental studies, surveying, permitting, community relations, advisory services, etc. Identify external resources by sourcing, organizing, coordinating, and communicating project priorities to resources outside of Diode, including Black & Veatch (BV) and other external resources. This includes BV resources include groups such as BV Environmental, Land Services, Nuclear, Power, Industrial Water, etc. Note: This role is not responsible for assigning work to or prioritizing workload of external resources; this remains the role of the resources' managers for the respective external party. Communicate regularly with BV business leaders or other external partners as applicable to help them forecast Diode's needs, garner support for Diode projects, plan for additional resources if needed, and push for results on priority projects. Responsible for organizing Diode's external work orders to gain cost and schedule efficiencies, as well as maintain relationships with contractors. Identifies potential areas of cost efficiencies or volume discounts with external parties. Be the go-to professional for PDMs to identify the appropriate external resource for the accomplishment of a particular task. Advises PDMs on the best resource to meet the task requirements across Diode’s portfolio of projects. Forecast and communicate Diode’s external resource needs for each external party at a portfolio level, providing information such as task prioritization, required budget, deadlines, point of contact, and scope. Track outstanding work orders to ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget, as well as take a strategic overall view of all work performed and in-progress with each external party.
