Summary:
Reports to the System Director Ambulatory Care Pharmacy. Directs medication preparation prescription filling and dispensing processes for all Brown University Health Pharmacy (LP) retail sites system-wide and responsible for entire scope of operational clinical technical and financial best-practices at all LP retail sites. Responsible for adherence to established policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws rules and regulations at all Brown University Health Pharmacy retail sites. Monitors LP retail services and programs through continuous quality improvement activities to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded. Participates in the development and implementation of policies procedures and capital and operating budgets for each LP retail site.
Responsibilities:
Directs customer-focused and coordinated delivery of LP retail services at all LP retail sites.
Directs and facilitates LP retail projects to identify review recommend and implement operational clinical technical and financial best-practices at each LP retail site.
Collaborates with system-wide pharmacy leadership to identify and initiate improvements to ensure appropriate safe efficient and cost-effective care as it relates to prescription filling and dispensing medication inventory and storage and computerized pharmacy information systems management and functionality.
Directs continuous quality improvements activities at all LP retail sites.
Participates in the development of short and long-term goals for LP retail services. Provides sponsorship by advocating for and identifying resources needed to achieve goals.
Participates in development of capital and operating budgets for LP retail services and programs; monitors and explains variances maintains fiscal responsibility.
Collaborates with key stakeholders from internal clinical disciplines and outside agencies to promote and integrate LP retail services into their practices.
Develops policies that are thorough comprehensive clear concise and well-articulated. Directs consultation for interpretation of LP policies procedures and standards of practice.
Collaborates with Pharmacy IS team leadership to select enhancements for LP retail information systems and technologies. Responsible for ensuring all information system and technology processes provide functionality to support established clinical standards of care meet or exceed patient care quality standards are in compliance with applicable regulatory agency requirements and consider age-specific needs of the patient populations served (neonate child adolescent adult geriatric).
Responsible for operational compliance with the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) 340B Drug Pricing Program.
Directs the recruitment retention performance enhancement and competency assessment of staff. Mentors and coaches department leaders to provide staff with positive and actionable feedback to maximize their growth and potential.
Communicates effectively and considerately with LP retail patients and customers in response to concerns or issues raised if any. Facilitates and develops satisfactory resolution.
Maintains knowledge of and expertise in leading edge developments in retail pharmacy including therapeutics services programs and innovative technology by participation in ongoing independent study education-related professional activities and affiliations.
Chairs and/or participates in committees task forces and performance improvement teams as needed.
Prepares papers for presentation at professional organization meetings submits manuscripts for publication in professional journals and authors articles for publication on the Pharmacy web site.
Serves as preceptor for pharmacy residents and students including Brown University Health�s American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacy (ASHP) accredited PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency.
Performs other administrative duties as required.
Travel between sites as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy. Advanced study in pharmacy or health-care related field preferably a Master�s degree (e.g. MBA MS MPH) or comparable work experience.
Prior to start date possesses current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist or as a licensed 90-day temporary pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island. Obtains full licensure prior to expiration of 90-day temporary pharmacist license then possesses and maintains current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island.
QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:
Five years progressively more responsible related experience preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex health care environment.
Extensive knowledge of retail pharmacy information systems and technologies pharmacy operations and outpatient clinical pharmacy services.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal to interact effectively with patients families colleagues and others.
SUPERVISION:
Direct supervision of up to 10 FTEs supervisory personnel
Indirect supervision of up to 100 FTEs professional and support personnel
