Director - Risk

The Captive Consultant role is a national cross-industry specialist role, focused on developing new captive management clients, retaining existing ones, and supporting CRB operations by demonstrating subject matter depth in captives and alternative risk.  Additionally, this role serves as an “ambassador” for the Risk & Analytics practice, with subject matter knowledge of WTW’s offerings in this area so that s/he can make easy internal “hand-offs” on identified opportunities.

A key aspect of this role is demonstrating creativity and resourcefulness in collaborating with client advocates in problem-solving for clients and prospects.

 

The Role:

The Responsibilities:

Create innovative captive and alternative risk strategies and solutions. Implement the WTW’s captive insurance operations strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client needs. Enhance WTW’s service offering by integrating analytics with technology to support the growth of the captive, risk & analytics, and alternative risk practices Identify and pursue new market opportunities to position WTW as a leader in providing support for bespoke captive solutions and supporting analytical services. Develop and nurture relationships with R&A leadership, client advocates, relationship managers, vertical leads, and external partners. Serve as a trusted advisor, both internally and externally, offering consultative guidance on how WTW can provide tailored captive solutions and program support. Represent WTW at industry conferences, forums, and events to strengthen visibility and credibility among these key audiences. Monitor regulatory developments impacting Captive Managers and Program Administrators, proactively addressing risks and opportunities. Maintain strong relationships with external parties (e.g., regulators, audit firms, and legal/tax advisors) to ensure a collaborative framework.

Qualifications

Experience

10+ years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, or risk management, with significant experience in captive insurance, risk pooling, reinsurance, and regulatory frameworks across multiple captive domiciles.Proven track record of working with industry professionals in developing and implementing tailored captive and alternative risk solutions.

Skills and Competencies

Strong expertise in captive insurance operations and program administration.Relationship-building skills to engage client advocates, relationship managers, vertical leads, and external partners.Project management skills: ability to scope and price, lead the analysis and research, and lead/execute on creation of client deliverables.Proficiency in leveraging technology and analytics to meet client aspirational needsExcellent communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).

Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $125,000 - $250,000 USD per year. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
