Habitat for Humanity International seeks a Director -Section 4 CB Grants. The Director of Capacity Building Grants at Habitat for Humanity is critical in ensuring rigorous compliance with federal grant requirements, focusing on financial management, auditing, and monitoring. This position secures and directs Habitat’s Section 4 Capacity Building for Community Development and Affordable Housing grant awards from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD. The Director creates and manages a high-performing team, fosters cross-departmental collaboration, and implements robust financial controls and audit processes. Additionally, this role includes strategic planning for Section 4 resource allocation and oversight of $20-30 million or more in annual funding, ensuring alignment with HFHI’s goals and adherence to federal standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
**25% - Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Section 4 programs, comprising 3-4 open grant years
averaging $10-25 million each; Pass-through subgrants approximately. 400 Provide leadership, supervision, and
strategic direction to the team of (10) high-performing staff
**25% - Develop grant strategy, create, coordinate & prepare applications to the US Department of Housing and
Urban Development (HUD) for grant funding requests; create & manage multiple grant programs while ensuring
that all grant proposals, initiative requests, and other materials align with federal donor requirements and HFHI
funding priorities and needs; Subgrant decisions and assurance of meeting Design, direct and oversee the
statistical and narrative reports generated for HUD/HFHI grant reporting..
**25% - Authorize disbursement of grant funds; develop and maintain grant materials and implementation procedures in accordance with federal regulations, including OMB Subpart F audit recordkeeping guidelines; Develop and adhere to internal controls. Maintain a comprehensive grant management database system, ensuring accurate data entry, regular updates, and seamless functionality to support grant tracking and reporting. Collaborating with IT and program staff to implement enhancements that optimize system performance and compliance. Able to analyze and utilize data insights to support strategic decision-making and maintain compliance with federal and organizational reporting requirements. Reallocate and amend funding through multiple budgets to ensure the full impact of awarded funds
**10% - Authorize funding and award recommendations for grants to U. S. affiliates based upon the evaluation of sub-grantee applications; oversee monitoring performance of sub-grantees to ensure full compliance with federal laws, codes, and regulations; Oversee grant training to U.S. affiliates in capacity-building programs to ensure the curriculum is relevant and appropriate for newly awarded organizations building and sustaining growth
**15% - Facilitate and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support grant programs, strategy, and HFHI’s goal & mission. Works across the HCS Department to identify integrated impact initiatives that deliver housing solutions at scale. Works closely with Grant Compliance, Donor Relations, and Legal departments to ensure grant agreements comply with HFHI policies. Point of contact with the Director, Office of Policy Development & Coordination, and staff at the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Minimum Requirements:
· Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Or equivalent experience (if applicable)
· Years of Related Experience:
10 Years of Related Federal Grant Experience
· Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
o Experience managing the full lifecycle of federal grants, from pre-award to post-award, including application, budgeting, reporting, compliance and closeout
o Knowledge of and experience with federal regulations governing grants, including cost principles and administrative requirements
o Experience writing and developing grant proposals, including understanding the requirements of various funding agencies
o Experience ensuring proper audit trail to a Subpart F audit with no findings.
o Experience analyzing financial and programmatic data to inform decision-making and improve grant management processes
o Proficiency with Grant Management Software: Experience using specialized software for managing grants, tracking progress, audit trail and generating reports
o Highly skilled in overseeing multiple grant projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet deadlines and achieve desired outcomes
o Skilled in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including funders, program managers, and auditors.
o Leadership and Communication: Experience leading and mentoring a team of grant managers and support staff.
o Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing grant proposals and reports, engaging with stakeholders, and presentation skills. Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum): · Federal internal controls/audit experience.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $104,210 to $122,600.
Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia / Washington, DC and Americus, GA), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
