Director - Security Engineering

As a Director - Security Engineering you will be responsible for establishing and administering information security engineering and operations strategies and procedures for the information security function. In this role you will develop and implement information security and disaster recovery programs, and manage the development, deployment and execution of controls and defenses to ensure the security of Michaels systems.

Major Activities

Provide leadership, vision and oversight in development and implementation of cloud and application cyber security strategy to define state-of-the-art policies and processes that enable the company to establish consistent, effective information security practices and minimize risk. Champion the digital transformation from security perspective, work directly with development and infrastructure teams to develop and implement shift-left secure software development processes.Monitor systems for cloud and application cybersecurity vulnerabilities, threats and events, oversee incident response planning, and make tradeoffs between business risk and delivery of business values.Evaluate potential business impacts from security breaches and provides strategic and tactical guidance to business decision-makers.Manage communication and dissemination of Cloud and application security standards and advise company regarding internal or external data security threats.Manage cloud and application security operations team to proactively analyze and directly respond to internal and external threats to system security including, unauthorized access, vulnerability assessments, record attempts; minimizes/mitigates risk to information and systems.Identify cloud and application cybersecurity architecture, goals, objectives and metrics; analyzing business needs and priorities for protection of critical systems.Partner with cloud and application security vendors to assist in our data security capabilities. Ensure vendors are performing their roles and meeting their obligations and our expectations in delivering information security services. Recruit, develop and evaluate Cloud and Application Security team performance to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Minimum Special Certifications or technical skills

Solid technical understanding of security operating systems such as Unix / Linux, Windows, iOS, and AndroidSolid understanding of cryptography and security protocolsHands-on experience on web security

Minimum Type of experience the job requires

10+ years information technology experience5 years management experience with solid background in information security and privacy, protection of key function areas with enterprise-wide administration expertise highly preferredExperience in managing cybersecurity across a diverse set of geographies, lines of business, threat environments, regulatory schemes, and contractual requirements
